Analysts bet PS3 North America price cut

This kind of economic news we can live with - presuming the economists did their homework right. Analysts are thinking that a PS3 price cut in North America could be laid out on the table, with one even saying that we'll see it this spring.

Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities says to GameDailyBIZ that, besides the Japan-only PS3 price cut, Sony could be basing its pricing decisions on the differential with the competition. "Should Microsoft cut the price of the 360 in the future, which I think is a strong likelihood next year, Sony will cut the price of the PS3." Probably to maintain the same price difference between the two units, not to spark a price war.

You rarely hear about price cuts in europe. No analyst is saying "because of the delayed launch europeans will be able to enjoy the PS3 at a reduced cost".

Maybe I am just dreaming that that will happen.

They are unable to bear the losses that would generate a further pricecut without improving the smaller die for the CPU.

It's just impossible. Already they'll loose 3 Billion dollars on 10 million units sold. And they write red marks already for years now.

This is going the wrong way Sony

As said elsewhere- Sony had to take out a loan from investors just to MAKE the PS3. They really don't have the money to cover losses on this scale.

Sure, they can make a price cut. And they'll wind up selling farther into the red than the company can handle.

So an "analyst" predicted that if Microsoft cut the 360 price, so will Sony?
No S**t sherlock.

Who people KNOW so much Sony's inner working and financial status! If your going to talk that BS support it by links just do't come here and spread YOUR opinions as truth!!

*"As said elsewhere- Sony had to take out a loan from investors just to MAKE the PS3. They really don't have the money to cover losses on this scale"

I want a link to support that Sony used the loan TO MKAE THE PS3

*They are unable to bear the losses that would generate a further pricecut without improving the smaller die for the CPU.

Also a link that supports this statement!

You have been saying stuff just like this on PS3 side for along time now, without EVER giving us the links to WHERE YOU got the info!

You want to make news of a pricecut for North American PS3's sound bad (which sounds plain stupid because you are the same guys who said the price-point is TOO HIGH) THAN YOU BETTER COME WITH LINKS THAT PROVE EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAY!

Funny how you 360 fans are almost always the FIRST to comment on any PS3 news....... Looks to me like your concerned about Sony and the PS3, Isn't your 360 keeping you occupied?

but both of the comments he made i have read before. infact i think they were both posted on this site, but just a long time ago. if you realy care about finding out how much sony is in the hole then by all means search the archives, or you could just look at there financal report(try cnbc, and look at there stock). and if the made a smaller die then the price could be lowered.

Shaolin Monks is a forgotten gem. I would love to see a new one, or a remake of the old.

That game was actually goated. It was the first time ever that I actually tried to get good at a fighting game. Unfortunately the online connection was so dogshit it made it hard to enjoy and eventually I gave up. Haven't really played much fighting games since.

The Industry Needs To Modernize These 6 Fantastic Classics

The Simpsons: Hit and Run, The Legend of Dragoon, and Chrono Trigger would benefit substantially from a modern remake.

Knightofelemia1d 6h ago (Edited 1d 6h ago )

The Xenosaga trilogy, the Wild Arms games, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, Suikoden. The Warriors game I know nothing about but it looks interesting. Anybody can do a list of games they want to see get modernized I would lose my shit if Namco brought the Xenosaga trilogy to modern consoles.
