Well I guess you can infer that ZombiU wasn't in the top 4, since they ranked the others. #4 got a score of 80, which I guess would mean ZombiU got in the 70's or lower.

If ZombiU was supposed to be the best one, then the whole way they wrote the article was very poorly done.

So I wonder what they didn't like about ZombiU? Then again there are big differences between various review scores amongst reviewers. They have Nintendoland at 90, while others have it in the 70's and 80's. One review doesn't always hit everything right, and some things bug or are loved more by certain people than others. Are the potential knocks on ZombiU really big deals? Or just a reviewer that decided to judge these other games ahead of it? We'll learn more when other reviews hit. Then learn ourselves when we play it.

edit: NVM another article says 92, so it was just bad journalism that gave a #1-4 ranking, when a higher scored Wii U game will be revealed later. Seriously they should either then label them #5 to #2 or just hold off on the article to do them all at once. Or not even rank them. Then you could just give them those scores and leave the surprise that the #1 game is ZombiU.

Former Nintendo PR manager says that the reason their games rarely go on sale is because they value their games and aren't like Ubisoft.

Just throwing shade at Ubisoft like that.

"Nintendo’s audience will buy the game if it wants to, regardless of sales."

Sales? What sales? People buy Nintendo games at full price because they don't go on sale.

SlothLordPootus13d ago

That and the fact that their 3rd party support has been near nonexistent, so if you own the system you have basically no choice in what to buy. Especially with the switch it was nintendo first party or indies.

Obelisk9213d ago

Each company just wants to make the most profit, and Nintendo is such a strong brand that can afford to sell games at full prices withouth sales.
Weaker brands need to go on sale in order to continue selling some units.
That's just how it goes.

Christopher13d ago

Why I don't play Switch games and won't be buying a Switch 2. I tried, but it's just not for me or my wallet.

Dudebro12d ago

Nintendo is a game company only.althought I don't like it you can't see where they're coming from.nintendo doesn't have a diverse portfolio.

theres a reason why hes a "former" employee.

woth that kinda mindset, i would have fired him too ha.

__SteakDeck__13d ago

What are you talking about? He wasn’t fired. Nintendo wanted to move his show to Seattle and he didn’t want to leave California.

franwex13d ago

Keeping it real? I would’ve promoted him.

lukasmain14d ago

They value their games? Meaning others who have sales don't? How fking rude of this dude. Nintendo are really arrogant

LucasRuinedChildhood13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Hopefully they get humbled like with the 3DS launch but I doubt it. There's enough early adopters that are very enthusiastic.

VariantAEC12d ago

I don't doubt that Nintendo will be forced to swallow their pride again.

SoloGamer113d ago

because Nintendo is anti-consumer

5 Of 8 Japanese AAA Game Stocks Just Hit All-Time Highs

Dr. Serkan Toto says: While things do not look great for many studios in the West, things are very different in Japan – and I was shocked how little people in the industry still know and understand about the third biggest gaming market in the world (which is a probably a positive for a Japan game industry consultant like myself).

its funny, i just read something about this yesterday.

Eonjay27d ago

Honestly, it looks about the same if we are measuring a company's success on their all time high stock price. It has nothing to do with the sentiments some in the industry have.

Objectively the two biggest problems are cost cutting and consolidation.

Nintendo vs. PlayStation: How the Rivalry of a Lifetime Began

The late 1980s and early 1990s saw gaming giant Nintendo engage in a rapid-fire series of corporate deals and backstabbing — the consequences of which would create a new rival and industry titan to change the gaming landscape forever.

TBH, there's no longer any rivalries. sure they are selling consoles but those looking for Nintendo games, will buy Nintendo's but those looking for higher end console experiences, will definitely choose Playstation

Profchaos29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

The game hasn't changed just the players as it's always been.

Intellivision vs Atari
Nintendo vs sega
Nintendo vs PlayStation vs sega vs Atari vs 3d0
PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo

And now PlayStation vs Nintendo
They may be playing the game differently but they are absolutely competitors

MaximusPrime_29d ago

Never consider Playstation v Nintendo as a rivalry now.

Glad you omitted Microsoft. Sony's war with Microsoft was over a couple of years ago.

Console wars is long dead imo.

BehindTheRows29d ago

Yep. It’s about to be what it would have been if no Xbox had joined the scene in 2001 - Nintendo and PlayStation providing the goods. LOTS of exclusives, Japanese games, etc!

Only difference now is Sony puts many of their games on PC, but otherwise, that’s about to be the status quo.

Neonridr29d ago

"higher end". Considering some of the most successful games sold of all time don't fall under the "higher end" category, I find that comment funny.

Great games exist everywhere, Astrobot proved that you don't need to have photo-realistic graphics to make an amazing game.

If a game handles great, is fun/awesome to play and I get my money's worth, then why isn't that a higher end experience?

badz14929d ago

Since when is "high end" means most sold? But ok, let's play the devil's advocate here and take some examples. Some of the best selling games in recent years are indeed the higher end experience Nintendo isn't delivering like GTAV, RDR2, CoD games, RE remakes, FF games, Elden Ring, BG3 etc. and these are multiplat games not available only on Nintendo's. So yeah, those seeking to experience these, have had to choose the PS or Xbox or go PC.

Nintendo has the portable market locked down with little chance for others but at the same time, they also know that they just can't compete at the higher end market. Licky for them their core fanbase is ok with games looking last gen being sold at current gen prices. The moment they go multiplat, they will be reduced to just a publisher like xbox because their games look and play better on more powerful hardware they're unwilling to supply.

Neonridr28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

@badz149 - you sound like you are 10 years old.

define deliver? Are Nintendo games fun to play? Do they handle great? Do they look aesthetically pleasing?

It'll be interesting to see what you say when the Switch 2 starts getting these 3rd party games because the hardware can actually handle them. Start moving those goal posts now badz, gotta get your new argument ready.
