IGN: Need For Speed Most Wanted Review

As with all sandbox games the narrative is of your own making but this is even more true of Most Wanted. The side-effect is that it can feel aimless at times. If you desire structure, if you wanted a game to be meted out to you, you might find its instant freedom somewhat overwhelming. But Most Wanted is all about deviation and deviance. It’s the racing game for people who don’t tend to like racing games. You’re not punished for missing that apex or abandoning that nagging racing line. It’s undoubtedly one of the year’s most exhilarating experiences.

Great score, now make a new Burnout as your next game Criterion!

Im getting this today on Vita. I spend 4 hours a day traveling for work. Two hours there and two hours back. Im building my Vita collection up just for these trips.

Its AMAZING how time fly when your playing a great game.

I some ways, this is the sequel to Burnout Paradise... developers have said how they took everything they learned from that game and made NfS:MW. The cool part is they get to use real licensed cars this time which they wanted to in Burnout Paradise. So this may be the closest we get to a sequel to Paradise City.

Using licensed cars means that the wrecks aren't as spectacular though, you do realise that? Burnout doesn't use licensed cars because manufacturers restrict what you can and can't depict their car doing in a crash.

I doubt you will see the driver areas getting crushed in a crash, in this game, for instance. Anything that indicates immediate death of the driver due to vehicle structure won't be represented.

In that sense Burnout will always be better at the crashing / combat racing side of things. This game doesn't have the slow-motion take-down cameras either, which is a shame.

It's still of course a very good game, but what I'm saying is that it's not a burnout game. Burnout game needs non-licensed cars, a focus on take downs, and truly spectacular crashes in my opinion.

The weird thing is that the Takedown camera was featured in their E3 demo. I can't imagine why they removed it when it used to be optional.

Great game.

It seems like every game now gets a 8.5 - 9.5. Not saying this game doesn't deserve it, but it's strange.

-Ghost3046d ago

Not necessarily. Look at RE6 and MOH: Warfighter. Both high anticipated games that didn't so well in the review department.

In Criterion we trust! Criterion delivered it as promised let's see how it goes with DLC...

Nice to see that a "true" NFS is out... Been missing it for a while.. "The Run" was a joke...

mafiahajeri3046d ago (Edited 3046d ago )

The original Need FOR speed guys are finished, its all about Criterion. Most wanted feels great
it litterally feels like a Burnout and NFS hybrid.

My only complaints are :

1. No visual customization
2. No custom soundtracks (PS3)
3. No Police chases online or Cops vs. Racers modes.
4. And there are some stock cars that feel so slow and they shouldnt.

I love that the cars feel different though and the authenticity like the Tesla not having engine sound because it runs on electricty. They nailed that aspect. The online is really fun too.

Amiroo3046d ago

some frame issue too

GamingManiac3045d ago

#2 isn't true, it has custom soundtracks, just like paradise, you just have to to it through the game menu. I agree with the rest though :D

NJShadow3045d ago (Edited 3045d ago )

As it's already been said, there are customer soundtracks, you just have to go to the audio settings menu. Look around first next time. :)

And a lot of the stock cars are meant to feel a tad sluggish until you customize em' with some mods, even some of the higher end ones.

So excited for this. Hopefully stunts are in the game, must flat spin and barrel roll off everything lol

turnerdc3046d ago (Edited 3046d ago )

There are stunts but sadly no barrel rolls:

"While not as over the top as Burnout Paradise’s stunts (no barrel rolls here), Most Wanted does give you the chance to partake in some pretty off the wall activities such as landing a Land Rover onto the top of a building using a nearby sculpture as a ramp."

-Ghost3046d ago (Edited 3046d ago )

Damn, this game doesn't offer barrel rolls but Google does!?

chasegarcia3046d ago (Edited 3046d ago )

This game is not a 9/10. Just played it for 2-3 hours and uninstalled it(just not my taste). If you liked Burnout Paradise you may like this game.
