Here’s The First Wii U TV Commercial

Nintendo UK aired its first Wii U commercial during the latest episode of Homeland on Channel 4. At the start of the commercial it clearly states that this a brand new console and controller from Nintendo – just in case people get confused that it’s simply an add-on for Wii. What do you think to the commercial? Was it too gimmicky, or did Nintendo do a good job of showcasing it?

idk, that background music sounded like some retro stuff.

taking an other look at the guys gf

Army_of_Darkness4610d ago

Brad pitt approves this commercial.

herbs4610d ago

Even with Brad Pitts approval still a horrible commercial.

guitarded774610d ago

I thought it was a spoof commercial at first when he started flinging the ninja stars and saying "shpew, shpew, shpew".

PopRocks3594610d ago

Well at least they bust the words "Brand new console" out in the first few seconds. That should clear out some confusion. Interesting commercial style, actually. Gets the point across right away.

FinalomegaS4610d ago

are the commercials that long over there? I can see we're going to get some BS about 20 seconds long...

Not a fan of North American commercials.

PopRocks3594610d ago

Well the old "Wii Would Like to Play" commercials were a tad odd. But they never were that long either. It usually was families waggling their arms about for twenty seconds.

This style I like more because it's in a first person perspective and it's not stupid and subliminal like many of Sony's ads.

FinalomegaS4610d ago

Guess I should of said Canadian commercials lol

WeskerChildReborned4610d ago

Why was Brad Pitt in the beginning?

Dr_Salvitor4610d ago

it was a bit of the advert on before the Wii U one.

dubal-e4610d ago

Because that commercial apparently came on after Brad Pitts Chanel No. 5 commerical

dubal-e4610d ago

By the way, I'm Brad Pitt and I approve this console. LOL

GribbleGrunger4610d ago (Edited 4610d ago )

mmm... not sure about that

FinalomegaS4610d ago (Edited 4610d ago )

ah yes, i understand. I love japanese adverts but never really seen many from the UK.

maybe they want to show the unit as not to much family but for adults?

maybe as you said, just get the point across and show the features fast and simple?

GribbleGrunger4610d ago (Edited 4610d ago )

Yeah, it's certainly very good placement, but I found it a bit sedate for a Nintendo advert. they usually show families enjoying themselves, but I think they opted to try and clear any possible confusions up. Perhaps closer to the release they'll revert to their excellent selves.

Ddouble4610d ago

From what I read, it didn't come on during X-Factor, but I could be wrong.

Wigriff4610d ago

Was the "sping, sping, sping sping sping" part absolutely necessary? heh. Other than that, I suppose it wasn't a terrible advertisement; it demonstrated the new functionality of the Wii U for people who may not be informed. It actually reminds me a bit of video game commercials around the 8/16-Bit era tone-wise.

dark-hollow4610d ago

At least it isn't one of those ads with generic overly happy family playing in the living room.

zerocrossing4610d ago

Not liking this add so much... but I guess as long as Nintendo keep their promise to win back the core gamers, that really doesn't matter.

-Alpha4610d ago (Edited 4610d ago )

It tells the casuals exactly what the WiiU is. The core fans are going to buy it regardless

Why Dark Souls 2 Deserves a Second Chance in 2025

As difficult and frustrating as it is, people should consider reliving the Dark Souls 2 experience, especially because of what's coming to the game.

Many of those who hate Dark Souls II hate it because it's not Dark Souls. The same people love Dark Souls III because it isn't Dark Souls II.

And so many of the issues at the centre of common complaints about DS2 are present in DS3 and sometimes even DS1. The hatred and bile spewed over this perfectly decent game is ludicrous.

CrimsonWing6925d ago

I don’t think it’s a terrible game, but like a movie sequel by a different director, for me, it does NOT capture any of the “magic” felt from the Miyazaki entries. Boss battles don’t feel epic, environments don’t have the same sense of awe, the enemy variety isn’t particularly interesting, the art direction just feels bland, about the only thing I can give it praise for is some of the music.

Now, again, this is only how I feel about it, so I’m not trying to invalidate his you feel about the game, but it is the worst entry in the series due to those factors and it’s the least re-visited entry, for me.

Is it decent as a game on its own? Sure. But in comparison to the Miyazaki entries, it does not stack up and I believe that’s where many were disappointed with it.

PrimeVinister25d ago

Completely fair. I cannot disagree either, mate.

MrWood25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

You can also play it in VR flawlessly on PC & controller with the LukeRoss mod so… another reason to jump back in with extra immersion.

jznrpg25d ago

It’s not a bad game it’s just not as good as the others

Shadow Man25d ago

The controls felt very clunky to me, I tried playing it after beating Darksouls 3 and it didn’t feel fluid, obviously the hit detection is less superior for been an older game.

Six Times When Games Turned Into A Horror Game

Ever play a game a game only to discover at some point it transforms into a horror game? No? Well Netto's Game Room shares six games that do just that!

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

raWfodog29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.

NettosGameRoom29d ago

That scene where you first see them attack is pretty crazy!

Relientk7729d ago

I remember being scared of the Asylum level in the most recent Thief game from 2014.
