Top 7 Evil Clones In Gaming

GS writes: You know these guys: imposters, rivals, and doppelgängers to protagonists in video games. They look like the hero, but with a darker appearance to show just how evil they are. They have all your skills, know everything about you and can anticipate your next move. Sometimes, the hardest and most difficult battles are against yourself.

The following list comprises characters that steal identity for personal gain, embody a protagonist’s dark side or set to prove that, despite similarities, they are the superior version. Some shadows choose not to follow in the footsteps of their other half, and so here are the greatest evil video game clones!

"It's not over yet Snake!"

Ahhh, memories...

HELLO BROTHEERRRRRRRRRR!

Nimblest-Assassin4571d ago

Liquid Snake is a good evil clone

Starkiller from Force unleashed 2, and Carla Ramones are not good clones, they are half-assed

Whitefeather4571d ago

Liquid was never evil he just felt like he was the inferior clone when in all actuality Solid Snake was.

MariaHelFutura4571d ago

I beat the sh!t out of Liquid at the end of 4. Barehanded.

Whitefeather4571d ago

That was Ocelot, Liquid died in MGS1.

MariaHelFutura4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

Well I beat him up pretty bad too then!!

On a serious note. I never played MGS1 and I swear his name is Liquid Ocelot. But I haven't played MGS4 in a while.

Whitefeather4571d ago

Ocelot was pretending to be possessed by Liquid Snakes arm to make Snake think it's his responsibility to stop him. That way Solid Snake would destroy the Patriots with Ocelot which was Ocelots and Big Mamas plan all along.

Irishguy954571d ago

One of the many reasons why MGS4 was a major let down

Snookies124571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

@Irishguy95 - That's a joke... Right...? In no way was MGS4 a letdown. It was almost flawless. Sure, the story was confusing as hell if you didn't pay serious attention to it (and every other MGS game in the series). The graphics were amazing, the gameplay was spot-on, the locations were mind-blowing, all the cameos were wonderful, and the epic scenes never seemed to stop near the end. It's got to be in my top 5 favorite games this gen.

Tokyo_reject4571d ago

Yea MGS4 was amazing, and it he wasnt pretending to be possessed...the DNA took over and at times he WAS "possessed" if thats what you wanna call it.

Snookies124571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

@Tokyo_reject - Actually I don't think that's not quite right either. Ocelot was basically "believing" what his mind was tricking him to believe. He was so convinced that Liquid was part of him, that his mind started to actually believe it. At least, that's what I got out of it.

@Whitefeather

How are you getting disagrees!!?!?! Your spot on, about everything! Well maybe not the "Liquid Snake was never evil" bit, he was kinda evil. ßut your right about everything else especially the inferior clone bit (he emphasises that ALOT). Obviously some people didn't play MGS1.

Whitefeather4571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

I'm a huge MGS fan so I know this stuff. He wasn't evil in my opinion just messed up in the head. He just wanted his father's attention ( I do hate that he killed Miller who was awesome). And as you pointed out he would always say Snake was the favorite and the superior one but in fact Liquid was genetically superior, that was the game's theme; GENE. That your genes do not rule who you are.

Tainted Gene4571d ago

y r ppl disagreeing with you.... ???

moegooner884571d ago (Edited 4571d ago )

Nice to see a top 7 list in one page !

MariaHelFutura4571d ago

I'm an evil clone. Were not all that bad, just misunderstood.

Summons754571d ago

Shadow Link was hard in OOT? Either this guy sucks at gaming or well i dunno what else because Shadow Link was a push over.

Liquid is still the best "evil" clone.

Hideo Kojima admits Metal Gear Solid motion capture was “trial and error”

Hideo writes: "We experimented with magnetic motion capture in "Metal Gear Solid: Integral", and in MGS2, we adopted optical motion capture for the first time. Was the shooting done about 25 years ago? Well, back then, everything was trial and error, but every day felt fresh and exciting."

Super Mario Odyssey Turns Seven - Ranking the 3D Mario Games

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "With the Switch getting on in years and the prospect of a new Nintendo console growing closer, now seems like an excellent time to take a look back at one of its mascot’s two big evolutionary lines, particularly since we now find ourselves in the longest wait ever between 3D Mario games. Today marks the seven year anniversary for the release of Super Mario Odyssey, and with no full new entry in sight, it comfortably beats the roughly six year wait between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, which should also be good news to anybody who broke a mirror that day.

3D Mario has delighted fans since 1996, maintaining an astonishing level of quality and bringing innovations not just to the 3D platformer genre, but gaming as a whole. Needless to say, it’s a hard task to rank a series where every entry is beloved, but I shall nevertheless undertake this risky venture with my head held high. Wish me luck."

Cacabunga181d ago (Edited 181d ago )

One of the worst marios.. i hated the fact it was only about finding the moons and very repetitive with the same bosses. There is no exploration in this one.
Galaxy 2 is still unmatched

TiredGamer181d ago

I played, completed, and enjoyed Mario Odyssey, but I tend to agree that I don't think it's the best 3D Mario. There was sense of sameness that prevailed after the first couple of worlds... not in the levels, environments, or aesthetics, but in the routine of each world. It just felt like each new environment was just the beginning of another checklist of moons to acquire, and the sheer number of them took away the sense of accomplishment I got from the stars in Mario 64 and the like. I can't exactly put my finger on why that is. Galaxy gets my nod as the best one.

Cacabunga181d ago

I enjoyed it too but i won’t even place it in my top10 mario games.. as you said you are just looking for stars and that irritating music everytime you find one.
Also the bosses are pretty much the same from begging to end. I would have have like some koopalings instead of these dumb useless rabbits

Chocoburger181d ago

I played a little of this game and freakin' LOVED it! But I forced myself to stop because I hadn't played Galaxy 2, which I've been playing every day for the past week. Cripes, Galaxy 2 is way better than I expected it to be! Even though I dislike the Wiimote and nunchuck controls, and it annoyed me a lot with Galaxy 1, part 2 just feels better and slightly less gimmicky when it comes to the controls.

Profchaos181d ago

Sunshine at number 7 no way. I get it's not perfect but it deserves better to date there has not been another 3d Mario that's managed to capture that same movement it's the most acrobatic feeling Mario to date.

It's by and large better than 3d land/world and I'd argue that galaxy 2 didn't offer any trie innovation it was essentially a DLC pack to 1

Personally it's
1) Mario 64
2) Mario Sunshine
3) Mario galaxy
4) Mario Odyssey
5) galaxy 2
6) Bowser fury
7) 3d land/ world.

Does Metal Gear Solid need a new Kojima? Konami have “many people” in mind, but it's "difficult"

A chat with MGS Delta Snake Eater producer Noriaki Okamura about the past and future of Konami's stealth-action series.

It's not going to be the same without him regardless so honestly it would probably be better just to try to do your own thing while staying in the same genre and general gameplay style.

just_looken240d ago

This but also the story is wrapped up only thing to expanded on is another mgs rising or spin offs.

-Foxtrot240d ago

I mean they could have done an alternate timeline directly after MGS2 which just tells a new story, that way they get to continue Snakes journey while respecting Kojimas final chapter, his Universe would still be untouched.

Maybe in this new game Snake didn't age

They will eventually try to continue the story, it's a given so I'd rather have them doing an alternative timeline than messing with what Kojima has done.

just_looken240d ago

@Foxtrot

You mean before shadow moses as that is when he was injected with fox die anyone knows that.

If they went this route then it would open up a flood gate of crap the topics they covered the deaths blood scenes would never work in today's modern games.

TheProfessional240d ago (Edited 240d ago )

The story in metal gear solid 4 was already a huge step down from the first three. Then the story in V was minimized and totally forgettable. One of Kojimas art directors could definitely make a solid metal gear sequel.

Also when you compare Stranding to Kojimas previous games he could easily be a Neil Druckman type where most of his best ideas were from people he worked with.

For example all of the MGS covers and the art style associated with Metal Gear wasn't even created by Kojima.

just_looken240d ago

comparing Neil Druckman ahole coffee fetcher to someone that worked in the industry from the days of msx should get you a ban.

Michiel1989239d ago

just cause he made one game that you didn't completely like?

just_looken239d ago (Edited 239d ago )

@Michiel1989

Because he took a ip that he had no right to say he created but does then at every interview he act's he is the father of naughty dog and a god at game development even the tvshow i will not watch.

People that worked there sense the 90's crash days were thrown out over 85% from the last count 2 years ago of the original team is gone majority left when he took over.

Sony looked at all the people that made jax/crash/uncharted/tlou leaving naughty dog went meh then praised neil gave him the keys to the kingdom. Sense then the entire team has been a dam joke they only made 1 new game in 6 years just a port studio now.

Oh i also like the tlou2 mp mode they promised that was changed then cancelled but hey tlou2 ported 3rd time for pc pay pay pay again like skyrim.

Fuck ND fuck naughty dog 2.0

Michiel1989239d ago

mate... you already compared him to a guy that was 16 years older than him and then ask why he hasnt worked in the industry as long as kojima. Time exists.

Do you really think all of ND will let Neill flaunt around if he didn't have a severe impact on how the game turned out? So you're saying the rest of ND is stupid that they're playing along with his masterplan to take over ND.

It's pretty obvious from your comment you're just salty about tlou2. You didn't like a direction he took the game in, stop acting like he's a terrible human being.

So they should keep making the games they make now and never make anything else...cause thats how uncharted and Horizon came about, oh wait. TLOU would never have existed if you had your way, they would be making jak n dexter 13. I rather have them try something new and fail at it than never try to do anything else ever.

CrimsonWing69240d ago

I think someone could take the torch, but they’d really have to be a mega fan and understand the narrative and quirkiness and humor of MGS and just Kojima’s design principles. Make bosses that revolve around “themes” and “gimmicks” and bring freaking David Hayter back for the English dub.

Tankbusta40240d ago

I have been saying for years that Kojima is not needed to continue this franchise. Revolver Ocelot could have a trilogy on his own with the established lore and it would be fantastic

MehmetAlperTR240d ago

No Hideo ! No MGS !!! Just try to work with him.
