GameCritics: Writing this review has been one of the most difficult pieces I've done this year.
On one hand, I think Risen 2: Dark Waters is different, refreshing, and has a great sense of humor. As a European third-person open-world-ish role-playing game (RPG) that asks a little more from players, the payoff is worth the effort of understanding what it's about and how it relates to its audience. On the other hand, the production values are rough and the fundamental design suffers from some fairly serious issues. I love what the devs were shooting for, but it sometimes felt like they were trying to drive me away.
Ownership over several titles gets shuffled in THQ Nordic and Koch Media arrangement. Potential remasters, sequels, ports, and more on the horizon.
Both THQ and Koch Media are owned by the same larger company, the Embracer Group. I’m not sure why the publishing rights would need to be swapped.
I hope they release risen on switch It's a underrated game all so
Hardcore Gamer: For the month of May, they’ve announced the addition of five titles to their massive collection of over 700 titles.
TechRaptor's pick for 6 underappreciated pirate games of various genres including point and click, management sim, hidden object and action adventure.
Pirates plunder for Windows 95. Wish someone would bring that game back, would be great for a. Cellphone game
This game's potential was HUGE! The initial content that was shown looked very promising, and it seemed as if Piranha Bytes had finally stumbled upon a few extra hires that could facilitate the extra coat of polish which had been missing from practically every previous game in their portfolio. But as an avid fan of the Gothic series since its inception, Gothic 3 being the exception, I was disappointed when mediocre to negative reviews finally began to trickle out.
Truth is, I believe this game found its way out of the pipe at one of the most ill-conceived times. Considering R2 had three highly-polished rival RPGs (Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and ME3) to contend with, which had released a scant few months earlier, it's no wonder R2 floundered. The equivalent would be dropping a chicken into a T-Rex pen, complete with THREE T-Rex's all chomping at the bit for their next meal! We all know how that would end, and it's not a good spot to be in as a developer. In fact, it's *the* worst spot to be in as a developer! Knowing and understanding their competition, they should have delayed R2 a couple of months longer, honed in on its dull edges, and really buffed out all of the inconsistencies throughout. That way they would have at least released a game with the same level of shine and sheen as the other aforementioned titles, as it would have at least been able to stand proudly alongside the others. Such a shame..
