XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Video Preview | GodisaGeek

GodisaGeek: "If you’ve been paying attention to our recent previews, you’ll have noticed that we rather loved XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

However, the game is so huge in scope, with so many different mechanics, that we thought it would be prudent to show you them, and explain how some of them worked, in a couple of videos.

This particular footage is taken from a non-final Windows PC preview build, and we’re using a wired Xbox 360 controller, for simplicity sake. Other than that, all you need to know is that these videos comes with a warning; there are no spoilers whatsoever, but you will immediately end up pre-ordering the game after seeing this footage. Enjoy!"

Great video, its a shame that the Steam demo is so short and does not really show you much of the game at all. I can't wait to play the full game!

thanks for uploading this, am still on the fence about this game due to the lack of random maps and other stuff that was in original

Make sure you check out the other video (clickthrough) and the written preview we've published too.

The game is excellent, hard to find fault so far!

XCOM: Enemy Unknown - A Welcome Rebirth

If someone gets into this I'd recommend getting the enemy within version. It's got all the dlc included so it's the better version. Wish the author would've atleast mentioned it. I didn't see it.

Fantastic game though. Xcom 2 is top notch also. I've spent countless hours in these games.

What other games were inspired by this game?

Gears Of War Tactics, Phoenix Point. Many others.

Phoenix point if I remember was created by the original xcom developer or something to that affect. I did try gears tactics some months ago and I just couldn't get into it. It's probably just me

It was, but it was really closer to the newer XCOM than the older ones. Gears Tactics was okay but was hard to get into knowing there probably wont be a sequel.

Ten Best Tactical Mobile Games

There are few things more gratifying in gaming than skillfully turning the tide of a conflict. And few genres provide as many opportunities to abruptly reverse the odds via skill and forethought as tactical strategy. To be sure, we are more often than not talking about turn-based tactical mobile games, specifically titles in line with the iconic landmark series (XCOM and Jagged Alliance) that made the genre a genre.
