Torchlight II Review | IGN

IGN: "Runic Games delivers pure, perfectly paced loot-driven euphoria."

The story is too old to be commented.

9.1?! Hurray for the old IGN scoring system!

Fyflin2309d ago

I was thinking the same thing! Glad they decided against the .5 increment scoring system they've been using for a while.

GamerToons2309d ago

So like, I like torchlight 2 ALOT... but didn't IGN give GW2 a 9.0?

No offense to anyone that likes either game (I like em both) but how the hell did TL2 get a better score than GW2... I really don't see how that's possible.

FanboyPunisher2309d ago (Edited 2309d ago )

Bitching about a review score is a huge fail, shit is already said and done.

No need to cry about it.
Man up.

blitz06232309d ago

Hard to compare the two since one is an MMORPG, but if you need to know why, it's probably because TL2 is $20. It's almost impossible to find a game this huge that's $20 right off the bat. Most games aren't even worth $60.

And TL2 basically improves everything in TL1, and it sticks with the old winning formula of the classic loot action rpg genre.

Ducky2309d ago

They're different genres, so you can't directly compare the scores of the two games.

They're also priced differently.

IGN has changed their scoring system

banjadude2309d ago

Much more polished than D3 (no offence to D3 fans/Blizzard); haven't had a single hiccup in the game (except setting up a Runic account, but that's more "external").

The bonus for pre-ordering off Steam (Torchlight 1) was really nice, too.

CrimsonessCross2309d ago

Agreed! been so addicted and have found so many uniques already :)

And yeah apparently I had an account already but couldn't receive the e-mail.

Been enjoying it nonetheless. I have a character made for each class and started an elite HC Embermage I got to the enclave, but won't touch until i'm done with the core characters :)

Hope you're having as much fun as I am :D :P

banjadude2309d ago (Edited 2309d ago )

oh, I am, thanks for asking! As for uniques, I've only come across one, but (again) unlike D3, the unique is ACTUALLY worth keeping.

CrimsonessCross2309d ago

can't keep responding through peoples' responses lol. I know right?! I've been getting so many "Eye" unique socket drops it's not funny. And I have like 8 unique items setting in my shared stash right now. I've been making a scrapbook of pretty much my adventures in both Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2 (squeezes a little more fun out of it making captions and stuff for each picture too :D)

Sorry I guess i'm chatty tonight and happy to hear you have been enjoying the game :P

StrawberryDiesel4202309d ago

Why can't these games come to consoles??

grailly2309d ago

torchlight 1 is on 360

bubblebeam2309d ago

@ Strawberry

have no idea. as "grailly" said, the first is on 360. It was about 200mb, and they said they barely fit it on xbla (the limit is 2gb I think).

The second is apparently too big, and I think they said it was the 360's RAM limitations. How 512mb isn't enough, I Don't know. Probably because they save the location of dropped items???

They said Torchlight 2 could come to the 360, BUT it would have to be heavily revised (stripped back like a MoFo probably).

Sucks, first Orcs must die 2 now torchlight 2. XBLA getting no love lol.

I suppose it's because a lot of the action and fast based combat is heavily dependent on the mouse and keyboard bindings for quick access.

Slightly OT, but anyone tried Realms of Ancient War? It came out on PSN this week and is another Action RPG loot/dungeon game. Looks interesting.
