GI: Nintendo’s Metroid and Konami’s Castlevania series both have slightly different takes on the same great formula. We’d love to see more 2D entries from either series, but which series will return to the genre first?

Unfortunately, it's more likely to be a Castlevania before a Metroid. :( Too many people love the Prime series for a 2D Metroid to make it through the fray. Not saying that they were bad in any sense, but it's just not likely to happen. I'm not a betting man, but my money would be on Konami.

Yeah. Remember when Harmony of Despair was announced - or even when Judgement was announced - and you were so excited, but then even a little information came out about them and you were like... Oh. Damn. Sad that hearing the name of an upcoming Castlevania is more exciting to me than playing upcoming Castlevania games...

i loved every single castlevania game ever released.. minus the N64 & ps2 versions.. LOS on PS3 was good & I hope the new 3DS version is good but id rather have the sprite based 2D Castlevanias anyday.. Metroid on nes, snes, & gba were my favs.. Prime was good too but the 2D style is by far my favorites for both.. I played HoD & Judgement & they were mediocre at best.. Its just not the same anymore

2D Castlevania is definitely more likely, Nintendo didn't make a 2D Metroid since Zero Mission, that's 8 years ago.
