what does it matter
we all know Nintendo dominated
3 Levels

total domination of the life time system selling charts on any website and numbers base.

Dlacy13g2310d ago

The only thing really worth looking at from these charts is the % of market share...more notably how since 2009 the Wii has gone down every year and both the PS3 and 360 have increased every year. That tells me....PS3 and 360 are eating into Nintendo market share more than each others.

StrawHatPatriot2310d ago

If it wasn't for the 54% failure rate of 360 due to the RROD I don't think the 360 would sell as much....

ChunkyLover532310d ago

Ya, because everyone went out and bought a new Xbox 360 instead of taking advantage of a free 3 year warranty and sending in their console and waiting the 8-11 days to get it back right?

I swear, some people are stuck in the past a bit too much, after the first year or so they changed how they made the Xbox 360. They have sold more Xbox 360 consoles in the last 4 years then they did in the first couple.

wishingW3L2310d ago (Edited 2310d ago )

you wouldn't believe the amount of people with 4 and 5 Xbox... Most of my friends which are pretty much Xbox fanboys have more than 3 Xbox's each and one of them is on his fourth one now.

They just want to keep playing games without having to wait like 4-6 months for their repaired Xbox that will only last a couple months anyway. So they go out and buy a new one.

A few years ago IGN made an article about how many of each console they have and they had more than 10 Xbox and most of them were broken!

ChunkyLover532310d ago

It takes 8 to 11 days to get your Xbox 360 back once its shipped. I don't know anyone who had to buy multiple consoles. Microsoft was Johnny on the spot when it came to repairing the consoles. You didn't even get the same one back, you got a refurbished one, and if you sent in a Pro, you got a pro back. Even today if you had a Pro or Arcade and sent it back you'd get the same kind back, there wasn't any downgrading like there was with other companies.

A little info for you:

360 released in November 2005. Three year warranty was announced in July 2007. With a minimum projected rate of 23% and a maximum rate of 54%, you do the math on how many potential consoles were replaced out of pocket by consumers in those 20 months.

On topic: assuming the numbers are close to being right, it's a very close race. Over the years given, the PS3 is averaging about 1.3 million systems more per year than 360. If that rate of sale stays constant, the difference will be about 600,000 systems at the end of the year.(All based on the Total Sales chart.)

Of course, there's a lot that can happen between now and then. Halo 4 is releasing for 360, and that's certainly a system seller; Sony also has a new PS3 SKU on the way, and its price point could well impact sales.

I did. Had the orginal 20 gig console it broke down and for a time all I had was my 60 gig ps3. Then I bought the elite because I was convienced that MS had learned from their mistakes and once again my console failed. I had got the slim for my brother's birthday and we never had any problems with it but while I was away for school my brother sold it. I currently have the gears of war edition slim 360. However I recently sold the harddrive from it to a friend because of the lack of use.

talk about a fanboy you sony fans need to stop acting like people didn't have a warrenty on their console i bet out of that 54% only about 7% actually rebougt the system. is it really that hard for you sony fans to admit that sony has lost this gen end of story, the ps3 barley out sales the 360 world wide even with when the 360 is almost dead in japan, and it had a 545 faliure rate you should be worried about all that money sony is losing and if they are even make it long enough to make a ps4. sony was worth 90 billion a few years ago now they are worth about 20 billion.

StrawHatPatriot2310d ago

Well I mean I hear countless people complaining about how they've had to rebuy 360's.

Lvl_up_gamer2309d ago (Edited 2309d ago )

I still can't believe these mindless sheep are using the 54% failure rate as if it was some kind of fact.

That number came from a survey from a particular gaming site (which I won't name) open to ANYONE where a small market sample voted. ANYONE could have voted. There was ZERO way to actually confirm if those who voted even owned a 360 and weren't just fanboys who support the competition voting.

Heck it could have been Sony employees voting for all we know.

Anyone who believes the 54% as truth are mindless fools who can't think past a simple number.

DarkHeroZX2309d ago

Well when MS was required by law to deal with the problem or face billion suits I don't think its hard to believe the 54% number. As a matter of fact I believe it was much higher as MS spent billions trying to fix the problem anyway.

But most experiements done in society that are used to reflect the general population are based on a small minority and suffer from being biased. Whether its percentages on hate crimes in a specific region or polls used to determine which president is leading in the presidential election they are all based on a small minority and applied to the general public.

Lvl_up_gamer2309d ago (Edited 2309d ago )

You are just speculating that its equal or higher then 54% and choosing to believe it because it's easier to blame MS (because they are the devil) then it is to expect some kind of reliable source that can be taken as truth.

Point is if you don't have proof then don't spit out numbers that you can't back up with a reliable source.

The most accepted number is the 33% number which even MS says was too high and inaccurate. Whatever the real number is, it was high enough for MS to decide to add the 3 year warranty and allocate $1 billion for the issues. t-responds-to-xbox-fail%20

This Gen is pretty much a wrap. even with the consistent sales decline of the Wii, it won this generation, moving on to the 8th Gen, finally!

DarkHeroZX2309d ago

you mean Wii came in second for the 6th gen lol.

ninjabake2309d ago

Men lie, women lie numbers don't. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the numbers do not lie. lets face it even with inferior graphics, a weak online infrastructure and tons of shovelware, the Wii not only won this Gen but was the 2nd best selling home console of all-time.

Don't get it twisted tho I'm no blind fanboy of nintendo I own and enjoy, and support all 3 systems I just love gaming in general, but facts are facts and no underhanded jokes are gonna change that.
