Games that would get the PS4 off to an amazing launch

With the growing anticipation of the PS4, Orbis, or whatever Sony decide to name their next console, one thing is for certain, it will need amazing games to get it off the ground at launch. In the day and age where gamers have so many things fighting for their attention, iPad, Xbox 720, WiiU, PC games, and whatever else arises in the future. Sony needs to do something to entice gamers to choose their next system. Also with the apparent death of the 3rd party exclusive it appears the burden of championing the PS4 over the competition falls squarely on the shoulders of Sony. Also a stellar launch line up for a system, is very important to establishing a positive perception with the press and gamers alike. But, alas on to the games.

Yeah those two are a given but how about some other IP's we haven't seen:

* The Getaway- So much potential here
* Vigilante 8- An epic car combat game and one that would fill the void in the absence of Twisted Metal
* Timesplitters- if this came out....mind=blown
* Tenchu- a proper next gen version that is- that would be incredible
* Destruction Derby- I actually lived on the demo of Destruction Deby 2- with all the improvements in visuals and realistic physics, the next gen iteration could be phenomenal. Its begging to be made!

Considering that SOE is behind it, it would be a great way to launch a next-gen system with a free-to-play MMOFPS where 2000 players battle it out.

Although, that also means that the PS4 will need some relatively beefy hardware.

as a PS fan sony has KILLED off plenty of PS1 titles and moved into FPS,MMO'S gaming. if SONY want to re-coup their old school gamer with "new" this gen. gamer they better come up with something ALL can enjoy. not every gamer like or love FPS only games.

Agreed... If they can release both Uncharted 4 and Killzone 4 with another LittleBigPlanet sequel I think most people will be happy with that to start off.
I definitely wanna see another Heavenly Sword and Infamous 3 though.

Personally I would like to see a bunch of new IPs alongside: 8 Days, The Getaway, Agent, Heavenly Sword 2, Metal Gear Solid 5 (yes I know it wouldn’t be truly chronological, nevertheless a formal MGS5 would be great), Final Fantasy Versus XIII (could well end up next gen) etc..

Then Sony show trailers for some revisited franchises to release the following year, like: Folklore, Syphon Filter, Legend of Dragoon, Timesplitters, Parappa the Rapper etc..

DAY ONE!..

I understand the above would be risky but sometimes people like change and I don’t want to see great franchises beaten to death even though I do want to see sequels at some point, e.g. Killzone, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Resistance, God of War, LittleBigPlanet, infamous etc, sequels for these, imo, should be saved for three+ years in to next gen!

Of all the franchises Sony owns, MAG is the one where a PS4 launch window sequel would have the greatest effect.

If MAG had launched with the PS3, rather than well after CoD4, the console war would have been over before it started.

There is usually one Sony franchise that makes a lot of people excited in positive &/or negatives ways and that is GRAN TURISMO.

Arguably Sony's biggest franchise the GT series is consistently the biggest seller for the PS brand. Recognized around the world by gamers & pros this is the game that will & can give the next Playstation a good start.
