Sleeping Dogs has undoubtedly one of the oddest paths to release of a modern Triple-A title. Originally conceived as an original IP, then rebranded as a sequel to Activision's mediocre True Crime games it was then cancelled for unknown reasons. For a while that was all, then Square-Enix of all companies bought the rights to publish the game, and after a quick rebranding to be a new IP again, Sleeping Dogs has finally found its way into the wild. Development cycles like that are rarely good for a game, but Sleeping Dogs still manages to be one of the most compelling open-world games of the generation. |
