PS5 will likely launch with Death Stranding, The Last of Us: Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima and possibly Bluepoint Games new remake. Then holiday 2021 Horizon: Zero Dawn 2. Sony is killing it.
Don't forget God of war! My favourite Sony franchise. Having multiple favourite franchises across different consoles is expensive so I'm glad next gen is cross-platform in case I can't upgrade both :D
I think HZD 2 should be 2022 it needs as much time as it can get. They need to blow everyone like they did with HZD.

The spark was mgs4, I remember how big that game was for ps3 back then, especially me because it was that one game id use against my xbox friends back when console wars was fun.
Lol yeah and in the two years before it came out, about every few months there would be an article on here from some low tier site claiming that an insider had leaked an Xbox 360 version of the game, and my Xbox friends would gloat about it (though they naturally never touched Japanese games anyway) and then the article would get debunked a day or two later by Kojima.

Those were fun times. The 360 may had been ahead, but the PS3 was right on its tail. The 7th generation was one hell of a competition. Now this generation, the PS4 has been stomping both its competitors.

10 years and 4 times as the most awarded game in the year, uncharted 2, last of us, uncharted 4 and God of War. No publisher has ever actived this level of awards ever, any of these 4 titles got more awards than all xbox studios put together.

Yes, i agree GOW was made by santa monica, but Sony Interactive Entertainment is the publisher for these 4 games, 3 made by ND and 1 made by SM, so... what's your point?
Nintendo had a shit ton of games in the 90's that won most game awards of the year several times over. Nintendo was like dominating that part and that's why nes and snes is so well remembered.

Also, to be fair, competition on the 90's was kinda meh... i mean, playstation at infancy, RARE actually making good games, sega consoles, feels like a distant pass, like last century... hey wait minute, it was last century!!

I definitely agree with you about GT from a numbers perspective (GT3 sold crazy numbers on PS2, especially, but most games in the series have sold well), but it didn't start a culture of sustained first party success in the same way Uncharted 2 arguably did.
