EGM Rumors: Dead Rising 2, God of War PS2

The March issue of EGM should be hitting subscribers any day now, so here's a taste of the rumors Quarterman has lined up this month.

'His biggest find is that Dead Rising 2 is apparently in development for multiple consoles -- but that Capcom isn't developing it. Apparently the actual coding is being handled by an LA-based developer (kind of like how developer The Collective is working on Silent Hill 5).

Another interesting tidbit is that for those PS2 owners who don't also own a PSP, God of War: Chains of Olympus may be headed to the console as well (though it'll probably be later on down the line, perhaps similar to how Twisted Metal: Head-On was just revamped for PS2). And in other cross-platform Sony porting, the PS3's Everyday Shooter will likely pop up on the PSP at some point.

And you know that rumor of a Wii-like motion controller for the PS2 that's been floating around for a while? Apparently it is not far off at all. And speaking of other things that are not far off: the unveiling of Sony's Ico sequel.'

Some nice goodies that Sony is apparently releasing soon down the pipeline. And Dead Rising 2 is going to be multiplatform. There's very little chance that it's going to be 360 exclusive. Initially they may annouce it for just 360 but in the end it's coming to the PS3.

Where is your faith? I don't see a problem with Capcom giving someone else a crack at it. I see only potential in both SH5 and DR2. From what I've seen SH5 is coming along nicely.

Sorry Judge but SH5 so far has been disappointing IMO and seriously, even if the new team does manage to make a great game (Hopefully), it will still be much different because of the change in developer. Just look at difference between Infinity Ward and Treyarch's Call of Duty games.

No one can make a sequel better than original dev most of the time.

but I think that the pedigree for the SH games has been off the last few times. Th strongest title was 2 and the most recent one, 4, was a huge departure from the formula and pretty disappointing. I think that the new dev team could breath new life into the series.

The original had an incredibly broken save game system which is probably one of the reasons why Capcom didn't port DR1.

I see it both ways. I understand they want more sales which is why it could go to the PS2, but how are software sales for PSP ever going to hit a stride if they just start making all PSP games on the PS2 as well.

It's not about exclusives it's about them asking do I want this game on my PSP or should I just get it on the PS2 seeing that I can play it on my TV on either the PS2 or PS3. Sony is taking sales away from themselves on a system that could use more software sales.

Either way it's going to sell but most likely given the option people would pick the PS2 version vs PSP version.

Well I actually see this from a different point of view...a more straight forward view not beating around the bush

for example lets start by simple facts the port possibility is still uncertain since people have been swearing aka wishful thinking for PSP games being ported to the PS2 since the system came out and frankly the number of hits on the PSP vs the number of hits ported to the PS2 is VERY small to the point I can almost guaranteed you this rumor originated by some one assuming since Size Matters was getting a port this one (should?) too

next I think every one that doesn't want to fool themselves knows that at the end PS2 owner will be getting the short end of the stick...EVERY single PSP to PS2 has been a poor translation this supported by how the games were butchered in reviews specially for the sites that gave high scores to the original PSP and later a low for the PS2 port and the constant use of those reviews of "poor translation" and "not well translated" then we have the fact that people are getting their hopes up thinking the game is gonna come to the PS2 2-3 months later when and if its coming you are guaranteed that it will be more than a year if not more which is ironically the example of Twisted Metal coming from PSP to the PS2...3 YEARS later

at the end its a wiser choice to get one of those new PSP (Ebay it if you want cheaper prices) to play it and if you want bigger view plug it into the TV because its guaranteed you will be complaining later on for more PSP games to come to the PS2 and that support its not gonna be there forever (same people swaring FFVIICC, MGSPO and KH among others are going to be ported to the PS2)

God of War Chains of Olympus probably will make its way to the PS2 later this year for people who don't own a PSP, this ought to tide us over until God of War 3 drops sometime next year.

But ICO sequel, that's what I wanna hear about more.

To go on about Dead Rising 2 being a multiplatform release. It will not be, MS is going to pay to keep it exclusive. It was born on the 360 and it should stay exclusive to the 360. The PS3 doesn't need it, while I think the 360 does. I'm sure this will probably turn out like most of EGM's MS rumors and be debunked soon, they are really turning into a bunch of PS3 fanboys over there. Just look at the ridiculous cover.

there is practiacally no chance that capcom wont make DR2 a multiplat release- you keep telling yourself whatever you want to make yourself satisfied, but this is the same company who screwed ps3 fans with the DMC4 thing and ported LP to the ps3 despite it being a year old game that no one really cared about anymore

oh yeah and the whole thing about "born on the console should stay on the console" well thats what people said about DMC and GTA, but look how that turned out

Your such a tool. Dead Rising was born on the 360? Please don't continue to embarrass yourself and your fellow 360 followers. First, the series isn't so good that it deserves the brand of being born. It has had one iteration that was good but not classic. Classic games are born, good games are made. This was a pretty good game but no where near classic. Second, the game would have also came out on the PS3 had it been around at the time. Don't fool yourself, if theres a sequel, it will be multiplatform.

Dead Rising 2, but i'd practically *KILL to know what Team Ico is working on.

i know they're working on *TWO Playstation 3 exclusives, and one of them is set in the same "universe" as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but i'm dying to know *WHAT type of game it is.

Ico was a puzzle game (ie, getting Yorda from point A to point B required some pretty clever thinking in that game).

Shadow of the Colossus was a unique action game (searching for the Colossus, finding the Colossus, then trying to figure out how to *BEAT the Colossus, sometimes on Horseback).

i can't imagine what their third and fourth titles will be. i can't even *BEGIN to speculate, but i'm relatively certain that *WHATEVER it is will be beautiful, artistic, and moving.
