VGCharts Jacob Mazel writes: This is a huge week in sales for Japan. Smash Brothers sold roughly 1,000,000 units in its debut week, but two other titles debuted with sales of over 100,000 – including Devil May Cry 4 which hit 205,000 for PS3. The Smash Brothers debut is the largest opening week in Japan in at least nine months. Riding on Devil May Cry 4's coat tails, four other PS3 titles were in the preliminary top twenty this week – quite the feat considering that no PS3 title had appeared in the preliminary data since early December.
Key Points:
-Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 all sold far more hardware and software than last week because of two key releases – Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii), and Devil May Cry 4 (PS3 and Xbox 360).
-Sony platforms had more titles in the preliminary data than the Nintendo platforms did.
-Smash Brothers outsold Super Mario Galaxy lifetime sales in Japan in one week
Hardware:
Wii: 140,000 to 200,000 units
DSL: 68,000 to 80,000 units
PSP: 60,000 to 66,000 units
PS3: 45,000 to 65,000 units
PS2: 13,000 to 17,000 units
360: 5,000 to 9,000 units
Key Software:
Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii): 845,000 to 1,033,000 units
Devil May Cry 4 (PS3): 184,000 to 226,000 units
Devil May Cry 4 (360): 40,000 to 50,000 units
Desgaea 3 (PS3): 31,000 to 39,000 units
Desgaea 3 (limited edition)(ps3): 31,000 to 37,000 units
Assassin's Creed (PS3): 29,000 to 35,000 units
VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."
3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best
Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...
5, 3, 1, 4, 2.
I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.
But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me
Two Devil May Cry games have been delisted on Steam. As shared on X, formerly Twitter, by Wario64, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition and Devil May Cry 4 are no longer available to purchase.
Bless the adorably all digital future! When it comes to PC games its not as big of an issue because there should always be another way to access single player games, but still, I hate to see anything get delisted.
Well, DMC4 special edition has a lot of issues to run from Steam.
I have to get a modded executable to even be able to run the game on Windows 10.
Not sure if it is because the game runs in DirectX10 or what, but it sucks they have not even tried to fix it.
Devil May Cry 4 launched 15 years ago today, bringing with it new character Nero. Has it stood the test of time?
Never liked it and I think I got it day 1.
Cheap Capcom design of half a game that you have to walk through twice.
5 isn't much different in that department. Encounter the same boss three times with three different characters? Endless warehouses or alien-like tunnels that all look the same.
It shall be intersting to see what kind of Boost DMC 4 will give US to both 360 and PS3, and in Europe as well.

as long as nintendo has enough shipments every week...smash bros and wii fit will be on top of the charts for quite some time
Smash is gonna do so well when it gets all around the world. Im hoping that smash can move 1mil opening day in america. I think its possible aslong as nintendo makes a big enough shipment not to mention pushing some wiis on the market. DMC4 should make a big impact in america, though Id lean towards 360 as feeling the bigger impact of it.
Regardless though thats a lot of systems moving that last week especially the wii.
