Sad to say that I've never really played DOOM 3 and now with this edition, I'll be able to play the originals 1&2 again along side the 3rd with all its expansion AND ALL IN HD..... Thank you ID and Bethesda :)

You know, DooM 3 isn't that legendary, and even by 2004's standards, it was a bit dated. Once HL2 dropped, people quickly forgot about this game. And make no mistake: this isn't survival horror. It's still an action FPS, it just has horror elements.

Don't pump people's expectations up too high for this one, that's all I'm saying. It's a good game, I still play it sometimes, but it's not in the same league as id's previous efforts or even the best games of 2004.

No one forgot about, and I disagree with it being dated in 2004. I get the feeling you just wanted to name drop HL2 and diss id.

I'm one of the biggest id fans ever, and I don't care about name dropping Half-Life 2. Clearly, you weren't around in 2004 to experience the feeling about this game. Many people regarded it as id's first stumble. It looked nice, but didn't play as nice as it looked.

EDIT: http://forums.penny-arcade....

That's just one example of the myriad threads discussing the game at the time. Note how most people weren't entirely impressed.

Also, I get the feeling that you like to stereotype people so you don't have to validate their arguments. Do I know if that's true? Of course not. What did we learn about making stupid suppositions about other people just because we disagree with them?
