Former 38 Studios employee Steve “Moorgard” Danuser has released a video showing a look at the firm’s cancelled MMO, Project Copernicus.
Curt Schilling's failed 38 Studios, the developers that were accused of intentionally misleading Rhode Island State with a $75 million loan in 2010, is remaining afloat with a single employee that has been tasked with maintaining the studios failed MMO, Project Copernicus, until a buyer has been found.
Hardcore Gamer Things just keep getting worse for Curt Schilling. After an asset auction last week for Kingdoms of Amalur/Project Copernicus ended with no bidders, it seemed as if there wasn’t much hope to recover anything out of the defunct 38 Studios.
Guess it's junk when no one buys it at the auction.
Given the MMO was far from finish, so its not surprising it didn't sell.
Bad for gaming, bad for the people who worked at 38 Studios and bad for the taxpayers of Rhode Island.
It's only junk to him, because it didn't bring in millions. I hope people learn from this, just so another Rhode Island won't happen.
I think Copernicus had made quite a bit of progress, but obviously not enough for other companies.
GRTV talked to R.A. Salvatore about Forgotten Realms, his books that tie in with Neverwinter, and the demise of 38 Studios.
"The IP is going to come up for sale. I hope somebody buys it. I hope they contact me and want me to come back and do some work with it. I think it's awesome, and I'm not just saying that cause I wrote it. The parts I wrote - great - but the work the team did... the love they poured into that expanding this hundreds and hundreds of pages in the wiki - just amazing stuff was coming out of that team."
