Racing Ahead: The Rise Of Triple-A Mobile Games

GamesIndustry- PlayStation 4 and Xbox Whatever-It's-Called will be unveiled next year to great fanfare, and the games will look marvelous; but behind the beaming smiles on stage, there'll be serious fears about the road ahead - fears that no-one felt when the leap to HD was made.

"It's going to much more about creativity, much more about visual quality and obviously about gameplay, and we think that we have a head start on this because we started that sometime earlier," NaturalMotion's Reil told this site last week, discussing what he called "wave two of mobile social games".

And as the debate over the future of consoles rages on, high-end mobile titles such as CSR Racing will quietly continue to make a fortune.

There isn't one game I would call triple A on any mobile device , excluding dedicated devises like the vita

You must not be trying to find them, and they are not hard to find at all.

I can't think of any.
Infinity blade 2 is on rails
The Dungeon Hunters are cool but they aren't in the same league as diablo 3
Dead Trigger and Shadow gun are cool with nice graphics but the experience is shallow compared to a full triple A PS3 / 360 game.
NOVA 3 is polished, cool game, but I wouldn't class it as AAA, maybe AA.
Aralon HD? No.

I'm not trying to sound like an A-hole, but I'd be interested to hear what you'd consider to be a triple A mobile game.

Grand Theft Auto 3 was triple A on the PS2, but is it still considered triple A in this day and age?
Fantasy Island Dizzy on my ZX spectrum was probably AAA in it's era. You can play it in your browser now.
There's no open world in the same league as Fallout or Skyrim on a mobile device. No FPS comparable to an HD console / PC Cod.
No adventure on a par with Zelda.

EDIT: Triple A "to me" means a certain level of polish, a certain depth to the experience, big budget. That kind of thing. Mobile games are designed to be pick up and play and are generally shallow experiences, which is why I don't consider any of them Triple A.
If you can think of any I'd be happy to be proven wrong though. I could do with a new game on my 4S.

It feels silly trying to play a game with my fingers all over the play area
