Why Ouya is GOOD and BAD for the Industry… as well as your free to play Wallet.

Ouya may have collected over 8 million dollars on Kickstarter however that doesn’t mean it will be a success. Don’t you remember Peter Molynuex? Why the hell is he famous anyways? All he did was make promises to the gaming industry that well, seemed to have been done before. Kind of like when a crack head asks for money and promises he will pay you back, just don’t expect to seem him for another 3 years until he needs another “favor”… Ok Peter I will buy your next game… Ugh trolled again with crap! It doesn’t help that the movie industry has seen it’s share of big budget flops. The NASA Rover Curiosity could have sold more tickets to people than John Carter did. Sorry Disney if you wanted James Cameron to make an Avatar sequel just ask him. So is Ouya trying to deliver on empty promises while shoving as much cash as they can in their pockets?

Ouya is nothing for the industry

This device turns any tv into a smart tv that plays open source games and huge third party titles. Android market so it will have pandora, netflix, Onlive with windows. Totally worth the price.

THESHAUNZY2780d ago

STOP just use your smart phone!

Freakazoid20122780d ago

Well if all smart phones plugged into the TV he probably would...
I wont be buying one but I certainly wouldnt tell someone not to if they have reason to.

Nitrox2780d ago

I don't have a smart phone so I think I'll just get the open source console with a controller.

If that's okay with you...

zeal0us2780d ago

Your smart phone got a physical controller and can plug into the tv without worry about charging it?

I lol'd hard @ "Huge Third party titles".

This article is shit.... I'm sorry the author comes across as a guy who barely does any research and is writing this off the cuff. Author needs to do a better job at really examining what the pros and cons are, to me he sounds like some punk kid that likes his Xbox and Ouya is shit cause it cant compete and that Ouya is a farmvill box.

"could be ROOTED to allow hackers to NEVER PAY FOR A THING!" thats assuming everything is done client side. take for example Tribes, Lol, etc.... thats serverside. hack your PC all you want, doesnt change that those Free to Play games use a server to keep people from cheating the system.

I'm highly interested in Ouya mostly because it breaks the statis Quo that you need to spend lots of money to develop for the big 3. Its taking what is usually a PC life style and making it into a small console. While it wont be pushing amazing graphics, the Indie and cellphone side of the industry has shown us time and time again charm is all a game needs to do well.

There are free WoW servers out there now that allow you to set up your own server and play the game for free.

If Blizzard couldnt stop it how can any other company?

@SolidSystem, I never said you could stop piracy. What I did say is that WoW has been hacked and if Blizzard couldnt stop them how can anyone else be expected to.

The difference in your examples and mine is that WoW is an MMO and that program is not available at your local Gamestop yet people still got their hands on it and now you dont even have to pay a monthly fee.

I appreciate the disagree and response though even if it only backed up what I was saying not prove it wrong

SolidSystem2780d ago

you cant stop everything. period.
Xbox, PS3, Wii, PC, Android, Mac, iOS all hacked and people can get games for free.
Ouya is the same way.

SolidSystem2780d ago

your point is we cant stop everything, I back it up, but the author wrote with the assumption that Ouya will only have pirates, which is what I take issue with.

Ouya will have hackers who pirate games, just like every other system. The Authors same argument can be applied to every platform, and yet games still sell on each of those platforms.

so what is your counter point to my point? because you only talked about trying to fight piracy, which i never denied will happen.
