Why there's no Metal Gear Rising Revengeance on Vita

Eurogamer writes: There's no PS Vita version of Platinum Games hack and slash Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance because Sony's handheld can't cope with one of its key mechanics.

The spin-off, which stars cyborg ninja Raiden, has a free cutting system that lets players slice and dice enemies any way they see fit - and it's this mechanic Vita can't cope with.

"As of now we aren't considering a Vita version," Kojima Productions creative producer Yuji Korekado told Eurogamer at Gamescom. "The reason is one of the main appeals of Metal Gear Rising is this option of the free cut. That requires a lot of hardware power, which is only possible with the power of a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

4 cores can't handle it, kojima??

crxss2780d ago

based on what's been shown of MGR, no the ps vita definitely can't handle it

Hellsvacancy2780d ago

What? the 360 can handle it

Blankman852779d ago

The 360 sells though. Vita, not so much hey. Real True Story.

What?! The Xbox360 is as powerful as PS3 -If not more powerful- .. it's only limitation is disc size.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

"Free cut is powerful however, 'allowing players to slash through almost anything but buildings at will'"

That's NOT very powerful then. Thus, it can be done on the Vita.

Appearently your a developer now and you know how powerful the vita is. Oh yeah like I'm gonna take someone's opinion over some experienced developer like platinum games that are making a hack and slash game. That runs at 60 FPS and has the will to almost cut anything. And please don't even bring up MGS4 because that game doesn't even run at 60 FPS. Yes the vita is strong BUT not console strong.

edgeofsins2779d ago

MGS4 was tested on a Vita with over 30 fps. They hardly changed anything on it so it wasn't even optimized.

You've no idea what he's saying. The engine used allows you to cut wherever you want. That sort of unscripted demolition has never been done before in gaming. It's always been scripted damage. Now we can cut however we want, right down to the inch and the enemy will split to that very inch.

Please think in the future.

FriedGoat2779d ago

Yes, because I'm sure cutting the bamboo in skyward sword was SUPER system intensive for the wii. platinum games just don't know how to optimise their engine. What a lame excuse, seriously.

Kin23g2779d ago (Edited 2779d ago )

Everything is scripted in games, right down to the inch. Believe me.

Lord_Sloth2779d ago

If you can't see that you're making the same 3 cuts in Skyward Sword then I dunno what to tell you.

mochachino2780d ago

I think he's secretly saying sales power.
