downloading transformers today. 2 for 1 copies via psn.

Agreed Rai. I personally loved my HDD when my bluray drive broke back in 2007.

I hope physical distribution doesn't go away.

I wouldn't be surprised if disc-based games are the norm even 10 years from now.

The current global network infrastructure simply isn't fast or secure enough at this point in time for digital distribution to overtake physical. Unless the whole developed world makes it mandatory that every house and street be upgraded to fiber optic connections, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Hell, Comcast cable has a 250-350GB maximum usage cap (that means upload and download combined usage!). That 250GB would be eaten up fast if every single game were to be download-only. Especially Blu-ray-quality downloadable titles that measure a massive 20-50GB in size each.

As long as all games will release either on disc or as a download day & date they should offer a model of the system weather it is the PS3 or 360 that does not have a disc drive included but has a 500gb-1tb HDD at a lesser price point.

They also need to adjust the pricing for digital titles, when there is no media cost, printing of the media, media packaging, shipping of the media and no cut going to Gamestop, Amazon etc for selling the game the digital version should be at least $10.00 cheaper then its physical counterpart imho.

I still prefer physical media but the publishers/platform holders need to make DD more appealing than it currently is or alot of people will never embrace it or give it a honest chance.

I prefer physical because when a game first comes out, I feel like for the same price I have something to show and can sell later for some money back if I choose. To pay about the same price for a digital copy feels like I'm getting jipped.
