The Terrible Troubles of Final Fantasy XIV and How to Fix Them

Gamescom 2012: New visuals, animation, quests, dungeons, and a new user interface make Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn almost unrecognisable. Fortunately, that's a good thing.

Maybe because I'm an older gamer now but the story of these final fantasy games is just total nonsense and childish.

Fallout3, Fallout New Vegas, GTA, Bioshock, Deus Ex, Uncharted all have interesting stories where it doesn't involve crystals and spirits and strange made up names that sounds like they belong in a 4 year old Disney comic book.

Final Fantasy stories seem like they haven't grown up or maybe they just choose to serve the market segment that loves NeverEndingStory like tales. The characters are so over the top dramatic. The males characters are so feminine or over the top exaggerated stereotypical macho male characters.

Final Fantasy to me is all about eye candy without substance. Like a cheap hooker. I think I'll stick with my g/f-brains and bods and disease free.

All the games you mention have great stories, but I wouldn't exclude Final Fantasy games. If you actually realized how immense they were in all their aspects you wouldn't be exluding them. Which leads me to believe you haven't played one, or at least haven't played one with an open mind.

We're living in this atheistic, scientific culture where anything that expresses even a shred of spirituality or mysticism or even just playful experimentation in it's content is scoffed at. Such an arrogant and shallow culture and I suspect you to be immersed in it.

Honestly I think a lot of FFs have better stories than Uncharted. Deus Ex also has a great story, but there is a lot more to FF than you think. The stories are usually deep, sometimes complicated, and pretty good. Like Gespent said you seem to have a closed mind to a fantasy setting. They're not really all that childish either.

Do you even know the story and characters for FF XIV?

If not, than everything you just typed is completely wasted.

On top of that, as much as I love Uncharted, it's just a copy/pasted rendition of Indiana Jones. Final Fantasy is completely original and new with each installment. That takes more effort and creativity.
