No. Maybe getaway 3 but not 8 days. From what I hear from a few nut-jobs (so take it as you will), 8 days was supposed to be using next level junk that was supposed to have 8 cities based upon actual cities (Dallas, LA, New York, Chicago, etc.) that was suppose to give you things that you haven't done in other games, like enter buildings and have real-time day/night stuff. That game will be about 40 hours of gameplay due to it's namesake.

The trouble with Playstation Nexus as a name is that it would be shortened to PSN, so there would be a confusion with their online service. If Nexus IS in the name then we could be looking at a rebranding here. Perhaps it'll just be called: Nexus

PlayStation Nexus isnt really a great name if its the name for the PS4. It just doesnt click to me, and the abbreviation would be "PSN" the same as PlayStation Network

Nexus sounds fine to me. Maybe it's doing something new so Sony wanted to break away from the trilogy. I mean, once u have a PS 4, people will be thinking about the fact that this just keeps iterating numerically. By adding the name Nexus (or anything else new), it introduces the idea that this is new...that it will do things differently, exceptionally new, with the name playstation on it to still remind people of it's roots.

Exactly. It's not out of the question for them to avoid the number 4. Particularly if MS names their console the 720, 8, or Infinity. The PS4 would look inferior next to any of those.

I have a feeling the speculation of gamers will far exceed the reality of what happens at Gamescom. =/ I could just be a pessimist, but that's generally how this pre-show stuff seems to go. Before a big show like E3 or TGS, there's all kinds of hype and fire, and then after the dust settles, the reality is only a shadow of what people were talking about beforehand.

I'm just glad we haven't seen any bogus "FF7 Remake to be Revealed at Gamescom!" claims.......

Yep, after Burning Skies release someone from Sony said that they don't have another Resistance game in plans.

Maybe it's time to end the series or leave it for a next-gen.

Maybe this game, Resistance: Worldwide, was meant to be a massive online game, in the vein of MAG.

I always thought Resistance was a brilliant series as well. I love the mix of old horror movie and scifi shooter. I just wish they could just nail down what they want to do with the series.
-I wasn't a fan of losing Hale. And replacing him with my LEAST liked ally from R2 was heart breaking :(
-LOVED the coop in R2 and pissed me off they removed it. I barely played competitive in R2, just the Coop.
-Retribution was a good portable but limited by the PSP's power. Burning Skies is just sorta Meh in story. I wish they had gone the more Horror route as it is suppose to be a game where you are a normal Fireman civilian, not a soldier.
-I shamefully must admit. I haven't picked up R3 yet. It wasn't because I wasn't interested, more so I have become extremely burnt out on shooters when they are so dime a dozen. I got Killzone 3 earlier last year and stalled out on R3.

They Nailed it with Resistance 3... But gamers nailed the franchise to the cross. I honestly wished COD4 wasn't such a success and that Sony poured money into the franchise... As Insomniacs and Resistance were the sole reason for owning a ps3 at $600...

Resistance as a franchise has been handled poorly by Sony.. Insomniac Did awesome with R:Fall of Man, Was rushed with R2 and Hit it completely out of the park on R3.. Burning Skies should have had more time to bake. I Hope Bend Studios Takes the Resistance Franchise over because Nihilistic Software handled Burning Skies badly.

@Sevir- Well what could anyone do? Its competition and its a dog eat dog world in gaming. I feel Killzone was just an amazing IP on PS3 this time around and they nailed it. I like COD as a series before MW2, ie i liked COD1-COD4, after that it had might as well be called Madden with an FPS twist after that LOL.

Resistance 1 was a good FPS, but the rest of the series didn't seem to fix a lot of the feel of the game, it just felt to stiff at times. GG is just a way better FPS developer mainly because of how long they've been doing it. I would want a KZ4 before i would want another resistance game, and thats NOT COD4's fault, thats Insomniac. Sony didn't handle anything wrong, they only published that IP, Insomniac developed it mind you they are and where a independent studio so... I see no reason to get mad at Sony or COD4. What money can be "poured" into an IP that can some how make it good? I mean its not like Sony was just giving more to GG and leaving Insomniac in the cold thus making there game worse. Resistance is not a better IP then Killzone because of the teams that developed them, not because of other games or the publisher etc.

I don't think R2 was rushed either, it had 60mp, 8 man co-op, and sold about 3 million units, i really don't think thats all that bad. I think gamers too much make a fuss on game A outselling game B, when in reality one selling more or less means nothing to the overall quality of the game.

I see why COD4 sold more and understand why it did, same with MW2 (i think LOL), but means nothing cause i still feel KZ2 and KZ3 where 2 of the best FPS to release this gen in terms of quality. It something i've yet to see on PC and a i own both. So...

It all goes down to publisher support (publishers don't really support PC exclusively thus rarely max out its potential in order to make it mulitplatform) with GG and KZ they had the funding and had the space on BR to make a really detailed and amazing game. Levels where topping 2 and 3 gigs EACH! Thats just an amazing amount of detail just unheard of in such a game. It was to say the least a masterpiece, this team will make some amazing FPS's and games in the years to come, but don't let the success of the competition take away from that.

Don't be fouled either, i own and play the crap out of BF3 on PC, doesn't make KZ2 or 3 suck despite the obvious superior tech behind it.

I still prefer KZ's art direction though, but different themes so...

I do believe Insomniac was under tremendous pressure from every direction.
-Pressured to make their game compete with not only Halo but Gears who always seemed to release at the same time.
-Pressure from Sony to make the game bigger and better than any FPS before it. Thats why they took the "Big" approach with Resistance 2(massive # of players) which turns out might not have been the best idea.
-Pressured to sell as much as competing games when PS3 simply did not have the same kind of FPS following 360 has.
-Pressure from staff to make it out of Naughty Dog's shadow(they are sister companies started by old friends at the same time and used to b in the same building). They always seemed to have the B- Grade to ND's constant A+.

Once COD came into play, Sony sorta thru in the towel on Insomniac's shooter. Even tho Killzone didn't sell gangusters either, it at least was a technical marvel which could be used to highlight PS3's power. Sony shafted Resistance hardcore with the 3D HDTV bundle thing. I think THAT is what really hurt sales(as well as the market being saturated with FPSs and COD dominating the market).

Side Note:
I wonder what happened to their class based shooter they were working on. Sounds like it might have been scrapped or at least pushed till nxt gen. Might explain the mysterious R&C coming from nowhere when they were suppose to e working on that.

I don't really buy that either, look at COD4's numbers on PS3 please. It has nothing to do with "following" it has do with the game itself.

Killzone has always been a very "gen interest" type of IP, even if it was multiplatform, i didn't see it doing numbers like BF or COD.

Really? Got a link or proof? To my understand Insomniac is a independent team, they went on to make a game for EA and continue with the RC series, i heard nothing of "Sony" telling them otherwise.

And regardless of how packed a genre is, a game that is outstanding is going to do great.

And i'm not sure in what day an age a game doing 2 or 3 million units is some how a bad thing.

Games like Halo do 8 to 10 million, games like GT do 8 to 10 million. Doesn't make games like KZ doing 3 a bad thing or games like Forza doing 4 a bad game either.

There are HUGE differences from MEGA IP's and other ones. Its like saying your poor because you don't make Bill Gate's salary, but you make over 700,000 a year (clearly Bill Gates makes more, but that doesn't some how mean you make little by ANY MEANS)

Both games did great, Killzone is only getting future support because they are OWNED by Sony, Sony doesn't own Insomniac (despite them owning the Resistance IP)

So if Insomniac feels they want to make another game, Sony is pretty much out a Resistance by them. They can either find another team to make a game for it or wait for Insomniac to return to it. Its more of Insomniacs doing then Sony's.

So nobody has thought that PS Nexus could mean a playstation phone worked on with Google? Google has a very popular line of tablets and phones under the Nexus branding that they switch off manufacturers often. Samsung, HTC, Asus, etc.

Sony could be making a PS-certified phone with Google. Never know.

Actually you aren't that far off. Sony was originally chosen to be the designers for the Nexus S. I can't remember the whole story, but the position was given to samsung instead. The playstation phone we have now was basically what the nexus would have been.

Nexus is a terrible name for marketing purposes. Its an extremely popular Google phone, and even if they change PSN to SEN, the confusion is still there for current users and those that don't pay attention beyond gaming sites.

They could probably spin it into their direction for a while, but in the long run why compete with a phone?
