"There's always the temptation to be a bit snobbish about games that are ported to traditional consoles from smartphones. Given the enormous success of "casual" experiences on mobiles, many dedicated gamers view even the best titles as vapid, shallow experiences — a perspective which is reinforced by the hordes of clones and rip-offs which plague smartphone app stores.
So when Gamelion proudly states that SpeedX 3D has sold in excess of 10 million units across Symbian and Android, it perhaps doesn't generate the kind of amazement they were expecting from sceptical 3DS owners. However, after spending a few minutes in the company of this fast-paced piece of software, excitement levels are bound to rise steadily — this port is arguably far superior to the mobile originals from which it was spawned.", writes NintendoLife.
Gamelion have recently been rumoured to be releasing a sequel to the awesome SpeedX 3D on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. With the game already being confirmed for other platforms, following the speculation, we reached out to Gamelion to find out more.
GameZone: "Most individuals purchase physical 3DS games at retail, so quite a few digital releases fly under the radar — unless they’re titled Pushmo. Here are 10 eShop games you may not have played but should definitely check out."
SPEEDX 3D is a “tunnel racer” for the eShop that isn’t really a “racing” game at all. Instead, it’s a colorful, hypnotizing trip through maze filled tunnels that morph into winding roads and back onto the outside of twisting tubes. The game thrusts you forward at a constant rate – no accelerator or brakes – with plenty of obstacles ahead of you. As you progress through stages, the acceleration increases and more obstacles fill the screen. The ultimate objective is to survive to the end of each stage, and other modes offer endless runs where your goal is simply to amass the highest score possible.
