Personally I wouldn't pay over 1k for a gaming machine anymore, you can get top gaming rigs for under that now, obviously you can still go all out for the 1k+ machines and if you have the money go for it, but for someone like me 1k is too much, I've picked out my gaming PC from Scan.com which is £800 and can run the works, obviously in a year or so it won't but hey that's the price with PC gaming I suppose.

you spent £800 on a gaming rig thats gonna last you a year. i think Scan.com scammed you.

my PC is coming on 3 years old and still power houses any game.

by the looks of Crysis 3, i think that may be the time for some older computers to upgrade but mine should be fine.

Crysis 3 doesnt have the gameplay to warrant upgrading, im only going to do it for a game that looks good and plays good and so far crysis 3 just looks like more of crysis 2.

Laptops are always more expensive than pcs though. My next pc I'm looking at is about £2.500 but my current pc is 7 years old and still plays 99% of stuff on high

Yeah you're right, that's one of the main reasons I opted out of going for a laptop

In contrast I'm still waiting for my gaming laptop to arrive. My old Celeron-powered Compaq Presario can only play classic games while my main gaming PC is too bulky to carry around. I have to stay at my work place for most of the week so carrying that behemoth is quite a chore, especially when I need to use a boat to get there.

So this year I opted for a gaming laptop. It's nearly half the weight of my PC (it still heavy compared to regular laptops) but at least I still get to play the newer games. I've stopped carrying the desktop around when a capacitor fell off the motherboard. Not really sure if it fell of due to travel shock or sabotage from an angry housemate.

I used to be against gaming laptops but now it seems that I need one.

Look into Asus, you can often get last years models of their gaming laptops cheap, and their gear is top notch. As a computer repair tech, I always prefer Asus equipment.

Great specs, great build quality, and at a very cheap price. I have one myself and it's an excellent laptop.

I picked up a brand new Core i3 Medion on sale with a GTX460M for a pitiful 380 pounds about a year ago....This thing manages 1900 in 3Dmark 11. Thats not lightning fast, but it'll easily play anything on the upper range of settings. It was my bargain of 2011.

This article recomend laptops with integrated graphic hardware....

extermin8or4651d ago

yeah not to great for gaming at all :p

GIGABYTE U2442 is the best value for your money, and most power for its weight you'll ever find. Size of a macbook, half the weight, kepler gpu, ivy bridge. It runs BF3 at 40 fps on medium.

extermin8or4651d ago

BF3 has become my benchmark for GPU's and laptops etc I look at what setting it can do however many FPS on BF3 :p
