Adam Boyes is the vice president of publisher relations at Sony Computer Entertainment America. His job is to convince developers to publish third-party games on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game machines. Last week, he showed up on a panel at the Casual Connect game conference in Seattle, where he was recruiting casual game developers to Sony’s game platforms.
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki and CFO Lin Tao talked about the state of the PlayStation business and the strategy and targets going forward, including how they're responding to the tariffs.
Sony announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2024, and things are certainly looking up, despite a decline in PS5 sales.
If their profits fall next quarter, we'll probably see more price hikes. I can't imagine having to pay £20 a month for PlayStation Plus.
Decline in hardware sales.
Behind on lifetime sales and decline in first party sales.
Third party content and PSN came through to save the day.
Things will improve starting with the next Ghost game.
Hopefully a steady flow of first party content by end of '25
PlayStation 5 has shipped 77.8 million units worldwide, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2025.
very nice.
in almost 5 years too.
some big hitters are yet to come
Anybody know why Capcom people are moving to Sony?
With great power comes great console life cycles?
OT:
What casual games Sony? pixel junk dead pixel games with no life? forgettable games with no character?
He is basically saying we will maintain our older & mature gaming image and hand over the kiddie games to Nintendo in a silver platter & with no competition. Some thing I don't understand.
If you want things done Sony, you have to do it your self!!!
It is very stupid for Sony not have Japan Studio churn out more games for Japanese market.
I can feel Japan's disgust over Sony's lack or neglect of the Japanese market that is why they flock to Nintendo.
I can feel the Japanese's jealousy about Sony's big western focus.
Sony needs to make new character based games that stick to the gamer's mind share like Sonic and Mario specially for the PS Vita.
The Japanese are the masters of character based games with lasting appeal: Mario, Sonic, Pokemon, Link, Solid Snake, Cloud Strife, etc.
And what from Japan Studio? Ape Escape , yeah right!
While in the west we have Nathan Drake, Kratos, Cole McGrath, Ratchet and the rest of the PlayStation All Stars.
What is going on Sony? Too dumb to neglect the Nintendo market? Get things right.
