Games will run faster on Windows 8 than Windows 7 you're logic is retarded. Steam has to support Windows 8 and they will.

The operating system itself takes less power to run and less RAM so in effect games will be able to achieve higher fps.

Yeah, maybe if you're running your games on a Pentium 4 with 512MB RAM... (heh, or a crappy tablet.)

RAM is not the limiting factor in game performance anymore unless you have a really low amount anyway, there won't be a real difference.

Yeah apparently you don't run a high end gaming computer even a extra 256 MB of RAM and any power not going towards the operating system helps a whole lot. I love how people are hating on Windows 8 just because it's a big change from Windows 7.

we all know that valve will support windows 8, he`s just saying that windows 8 right now is more crappy for steam than other OS.

Anyway, we`re only using the service, not developping it, so anything we say about how steam will run on windows 8 is totally irrelevant, except if any of you are working at valve. I`m pretty sure they know more about how steam works than we do, so let the creator speak.

How can a operating system that will run it better be crappier for it?

ZeroX98762733d ago (Edited 2733d ago )

how do you know it will run it better? Are you working on steam right now for Windows 8? I know gabe is and he`s thinking it`s crap. For. Now. It can change from time to time tough.

I tried win8, with a touch friendly device, the OS would be awesome. For working purpose tough, it`s not that useful, just extremely user friendly (like Mac OSX). A classic mode is probably going to be there, since not everyone likes changes.

Don`t worry, it will run better, but as of right now, there`s room for improvement.
