“People love to beat me up for bashing Nintendo, but they bring this on themselves. They [Nintendo] give no information, and want us all to proclaim that their consoles will sell record numbers.”

Love him...hate him it dosen't matter the guy does have a point.

I don't really think he made it out that it wouldn't work full stop, just that Nintendo shouldn't be gambling with getting lucky again with a console which possibly...and I said possibly could hurt them alot if that gamble dosen't pay off.

Ya but Nintendo always been like this when it comes to it consoles so why should they change now.

user54670072733d ago

So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience...

They've only started doing it this gen when they realised the potential the casual audience have.

They never did this for the NES, SNES, N64 or the Gamecube

Well either way, what we're seeing here is the Sega: Dreamcast 2 in the works. Only a person who is a complete fool would actually buy this console. When Nintendo releases the WiiU, Sony and Microsoft will create a media blitz regarding the PS4 and the Xbox 720, and that will kill pretty much any hype for Nintendo.

I bet that the WiiU won't sell more than 40 Million units before Nintendo cuts production. Nintendo's future is dependent upon the handheld market, and that is what Nintendo will become, is a full time handheld manufacturer.

@MikeCosgrove
Wouldn't it be more smart if you just... you know... WAIT FOR THE SEPTEMBER CONFERENCE AND SHUT UP? So then you will be able to know everything about the system (including secret games and features). They aren't ready to talk about the system yet and you (as a consumer) will be able to know everything before you pay for it.

Also, negativity on the internet means nothing. Everybody complained about NSMBWii and said "omg it looks similar to the DS game) and look how well it sold.

"So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience..."

Notice how they've been extremely successful for it.

avengers19782732d ago

Possible hurt them... they are banking on the fact that everyone that owns a wii will go out and get a wii u, and that is not going to happen: as a majority of Wii owners are non-gamers, and casual gamers witch are long gone... MOved on too there phones or tablets for there casual gaming needs.
Patcher has a good point(even though he seldom makes them) Nintendo cannot think people are going to fall all over themselves for something they refuse to give information about.

If anyone cares to remember Nintendo was almost dead after gamecube barley sold anything

mike1up2733d ago (Edited 2733d ago )

---“...They [Nintendo] give no information, and want us all to proclaim that their consoles will sell record numbers.”

If Patcher had the information, he would be wrong about it anyway (as usual). This man gets paid to make (bad) predictions.

He cries "no information", and yet he has: launch titles, launch window, new controller, new network, and new 3rd party support. Any proper analyst could make early predictions from that kind of information.

Patcher can't help himself. He is just so certain that Nintendo will screw up the launch, price, or specs. He wants to shout DOOM so badly, but he can't.

Well hey, if they give no information, it at least keeps Patcher in business.

They and video game publications/websites.

MultiConsoleGamer2732d ago (Edited 2732d ago )

Hey Packie,

Nintendo doesn't give you information because they don't like you. And I mean you specifically, not all analysts. Your consistent track record of bashing them, being completely wrong about their products, and supporting their detractors is a big part of the reason why you are shunned.

I know more about Nintendo, the WiiU, and the plans of this company than you will ever know. And I work for a site that is quite literally the ugliest and smallest gaming site on the web.

I also think its hilarious that you expect a billion dollar company to simply "open the books" for you to help further your own career. You know the value of this financial information, and you laughably expect Nintendo to give you this info for free.

Call me if you want any tips. Until then, save that corner office for me.

"So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience...

They never did this for the NES, SNES, N64 or the Gamecube" For nes there WAS NO hardcore market yet,and snes sold worse then nes,n64 worse then snes, and gamecube worse then n64.
Alot of good pandering to hardcore players did, lol.

Jadedz2732d ago

You gotta expand upon your market, unless you want some other company steppin' over your toes, and eatin' your lunch (like Sony did to Sega).
