Michael Pachter is frustrated that Nintendo gives no information to analysts.
“People love to beat me up for bashing Nintendo, but they bring this on themselves. They [Nintendo] give no information, and want us all to proclaim that their consoles will sell record numbers.” Love him...hate him it dosen't matter the guy does have a point. I don't really think he made it out that it wouldn't work full stop, just that Nintendo shouldn't be gambling with getting lucky again with a console which possibly...and I said possibly could hurt them alot if that gamble dosen't pay off.
Ya but Nintendo always been like this when it comes to it consoles so why should they change now.
So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience... They've only started doing it this gen when they realised the potential the casual audience have. They never did this for the NES, SNES, N64 or the Gamecube
Well either way, what we're seeing here is the Sega: Dreamcast 2 in the works. Only a person who is a complete fool would actually buy this console. When Nintendo releases the WiiU, Sony and Microsoft will create a media blitz regarding the PS4 and the Xbox 720, and that will kill pretty much any hype for Nintendo. I bet that the WiiU won't sell more than 40 Million units before Nintendo cuts production. Nintendo's future is dependent upon the handheld market, and that is what Nintendo will become, is a full time handheld manufacturer.
@MikeCosgrove Wouldn't it be more smart if you just... you know... WAIT FOR THE SEPTEMBER CONFERENCE AND SHUT UP? So then you will be able to know everything about the system (including secret games and features). They aren't ready to talk about the system yet and you (as a consumer) will be able to know everything before you pay for it. Also, negativity on the internet means nothing. Everybody complained about NSMBWii and said "omg it looks similar to the DS game) and look how well it sold.
"So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience..." Notice how they've been extremely successful for it.
Possible hurt them... they are banking on the fact that everyone that owns a wii will go out and get a wii u, and that is not going to happen: as a majority of Wii owners are non-gamers, and casual gamers witch are long gone... MOved on too there phones or tablets for there casual gaming needs. Patcher has a good point(even though he seldom makes them) Nintendo cannot think people are going to fall all over themselves for something they refuse to give information about. If anyone cares to remember Nintendo was almost dead after gamecube barley sold anything
---“...They [Nintendo] give no information, and want us all to proclaim that their consoles will sell record numbers.” If Patcher had the information, he would be wrong about it anyway (as usual). This man gets paid to make (bad) predictions. He cries "no information", and yet he has: launch titles, launch window, new controller, new network, and new 3rd party support. Any proper analyst could make early predictions from that kind of information. Patcher can't help himself. He is just so certain that Nintendo will screw up the launch, price, or specs. He wants to shout DOOM so badly, but he can't.
Well hey, if they give no information, it at least keeps Patcher in business.
They and video game publications/websites.
Hey Packie, Nintendo doesn't give you information because they don't like you. And I mean you specifically, not all analysts. Your consistent track record of bashing them, being completely wrong about their products, and supporting their detractors is a big part of the reason why you are shunned. I know more about Nintendo, the WiiU, and the plans of this company than you will ever know. And I work for a site that is quite literally the ugliest and smallest gaming site on the web. I also think its hilarious that you expect a billion dollar company to simply "open the books" for you to help further your own career. You know the value of this financial information, and you laughably expect Nintendo to give you this info for free. Call me if you want any tips. Until then, save that corner office for me.
"So they've always gambled by trying to attact the casual audience... They've only started doing it this gen when they realised the potential the casual audience have. They never did this for the NES, SNES, N64 or the Gamecube" For nes there WAS NO hardcore market yet,and snes sold worse then nes,n64 worse then snes, and gamecube worse then n64. Alot of good pandering to hardcore players did, lol.
You gotta expand upon your market, unless you want some other company steppin' over your toes, and eatin' your lunch (like Sony did to Sega).
I can totally see it now: Pachter: Tell me all your secrets, Nintendo! Nintendo: No! Pachter: You jerks! I guess I'll have to troll you then!
Give the analysts information......So they can spew out bullcrap?
It's not that it's pricing and specs. If I new the price of the wii U I would be buying it early but I know nothing about it do will get it later. Even if you hate him he has a point. However Nintendo fanboys will only see this as senseless bashing.
I love the Pachter haters who appear in any thread with his name in it, just to spit out the same talking points they say in every other Pachter thread. I liken in to the "list guy" and "caveat" guy... Most of you don't don't have a freaking clue what an analyst does and you'll never have his money. That's what makes it so funny. But hey, you have the same lame jokes you've been telling all this time so go for it. This will (and already has) turn into an echo chamber of parrots in the peanut gallery.
I agree, and it always includes a mispelling of his name and a long, boring diatribe on how he doesnt know what he is doing.
I hope your comment is a joke. He simply either states obvious facts or makes absolutely ridiculous predictions that he seems to pull out of thin air. Please show me one prediction he made that was correct that wasn't already painfully obvious that any moron could point out. Like him 'predicting' that the 360 would get a price cut after the PS3 did, whoa shocker. Also I could care a less how much money he has simply because of how he earned it. Take a drug dealer for example, would you say "Hey you guys can hate all you want but hes still making more money than you" no you wouldn't, atleast I sure as hell hope you wouldn't. This guy doesn't deserve the money he has, its ridiculous how complete morons can end up having a good amount of money.
I think Nintendo is afraid of the "knee-jerk" reaction from the media due to them locking them with a bullseye for any possible information that would put them in a negative light. Being so close to the what could possibly be the release of the next-gen consoles. I'd say Nintendo is playing it safe for now and will release information when they are confident to do so. The lack of "hard-hitting" core games so to speak hasn't exactly been revealed which only promotes more tension and fears from high-expecting consumers. Personally, Nintendo has to reveal their cards one way or another, being so close to the release date, I'm thinking the best way to do so is at Gamescom, so let's see what they have announced till then.
Michael Pachter is the ultimate anti Nintendo Troll !!!
Calling the Tarot card hotline or whatever is just as reliable as Pachter is. I wouldn't give him information either for him to mis-analyse.
The guy has already stated his opinion on the WiiU several times, made stuff up (Activision & MW) and now comes out and admits he basically knows fuck all about it. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this sour faced arse hole hasn't even PLAYED on the WiiU yet. Why people give this nutter time and webspace is beyond me.
Nintendo is excellent company, after all they survived in highly competitive market without any serious 3rd party support, they survived and flourish even despite major betrayals. Of course I'm not happy with everything they ever did, first they granted license for developing to Square this was problematic and in the end completely unnecessary because their games produced for Nintendo hardware are prank (FF:CC) or remakes and for success of GBA, NDS and Wii were completely irrelevant (and last but not least even main FF games since FFX are trash). second they are completely unable to fully support their hardware with games for entire life-cycle, third they are unable to invest to established or new developers for creating exclusive games.
The problem with analysts is that they just go off data and things like that. This guy isn't really an industry person and doesn't really know a ton of gamer's. He thinks because his kids have cell phones that all kids will take a cell phone and cell phone games over handheld consoles. I remember every year for the last few years the new puts on an analyst that says "Gas prices are going to go up past $5 a gallon this summer". These fools don't really know what they are talking about. Nintendo has always done what they do best and most of the time it pays off in a big, big way.
Awww, poor babies.... You got to wait to find out about it like everybody else... [/Ron White]
Pachter is frustrated with Nintendo because Nintendo always proves him wrong.
Patcher is funny in American Pie movies, (He is Jim's Dad right?) but he really needs to stop this amateur game analysist stuff.
Mr M P, you don't work for Nintendo, they dont pay your cheque at the end of the month and like everyone else you have an opinion. How exactly does what information Nintendo give affect you and your life for you to be frustrated? We gamers/consumers should say that but we are not. Do you get frustrated with Apple when they take long to give specifics and details? Your a tit an have no relevance out side of Wedbush and GTTV
I know it popular to just blast Pachter all of the time. He is often wrong. Most analyst are. But Nintendo should be releasing more info about a console they plan to launch this year. From an analyst point of view the info is important. Gamers will say "I just want great games". But analyst aren't working for gamers. They're working for investors and investors are more show me people than I'll just trust you. From an investor standpoint Nintendo looks like a bad investment right now. It seems they expect you to trust that they will bring the causal gamers from last generation on board again. There is no reason to believe that. Nintendo seems to want you to trust they will get the hardcore audience back. Zombie U looks great but then what. There is reason to believe the console will be underpowered for next generation. Sales are down across the industry. If you're an investor, you might be thinking they won't talk power because the Wii U doesn't cut it there. They don't show many games so are there any. And no one is showing anything amazing with the new controller. So right now Nintendo looks like a bad investment. And that is what Pachter is addressing. Pachter isn't gamer press. He's investor press. Nintendo does need to release more info. I'm a gamer and I was looking forward to the Wii U. But now the secrecy has made me lose interest.
