Let's say Over 100GB Hard Drive and better The rumble in the jungle Dual Shock 3.
it sorta makes sense to release the new sku's with a rumble controller. i already have one and the difference it makes is crazy. warhawk especially takes advantage of this
what the heck is wrong with Sony. The 80gb didn't sell as well as the 40 because the price is too high. So what do they do? They release another sku with an even higher price point. I hope this isn't true. Just stick to the 40gb Sony. Let people upgrade the hdd on their own. Unless they release a version with PS2 backwards compatibility.
@ above, the 80 gig version has more then backwards compatibility... i personally would never get a 40 gig console unless they released it with all the features of the 80 gig, 2 usb slots is no were near enough for me, and i also use the other features on the 80gig
"the 80 gig version has more then backwards compatibility... i personally would never get a 40 gig console unless they released it with all the features of the 80 gig, 2 usb slots is no were near enough for me, and i also use the other features on the 80gig" I never debated one having more backwards compatibility than the other. I stated the price point for the 80 was so high that most just opted for the 40. My statement in regards to backwards compatibly was that unless Sony releases a System with bc and drops the 40 down to 299 (the original 60gb is what I was thinking) then there's no sense releasing another sku with a bigger hdd. And you are BY FAR in the minority with the whole USB slot thing. Most people are not using nor needing more than two at any one given time. Bottom line: I'm glad YOU use the 80 and enjoy the 80. The article isn't that Sony is releasing a new sku and discontinuing the 80 because you didn't like it. It's about people in general. 80gb is not selling and, again, it makes no sense to release yet another sku with a bigger hdd when it's not going sell if it's priced as high as the 80.
i only hope sony dont start thinking they can release new sku's to boost sales when ever they like, 2 is fine but wer already upto 4 thats crazy
Yea but atleast Sony is consistent by just increasing HDD and really the the only things they messed with is BC and memory slots and arguably those aren't needed. This 100+GB PS3 is just an upgrade because Sony doesn't want to pack in Motorstorm with 80gb because they obviously did a deal with the Motorstorm developers and Motorstorm 2 iscoming out. And you can't go wrong with buying any PS3 sku because the core functionality still exist unlike the 360. The xbox 360 has like 7 versions and 4 of those versions are rip offs: Core component, Core HDMI, Arcade HDMI, Premium component, Premium HDMI, Premium Halo Edition Elite
The price point better be consistent. If they raise the price just for a bigger hard drive that's ridiculous. You can get a pretty good 250gb drive for about $150. That's what I did, was a breeze to install. Plus you can also import a DS3 for about 65 dollars. My guess is that when DS3 is released here it will be $60
Sony is sticking to the 2 available console thing. It's not like you can find the 4 SKU's in a Gamestop at the moment.
I can't wait for the DS3, getting sick of no rumble in CoD4..
I have the dual shock 3 and CoD4 doesn't support rumble for some reason.
Honestly, what more do I have to say? Well, I will say that you can find them cheaper.
wow, i have that exact same one, except this one is $90 cheaper then when i bought it. lol
I'm looking foward the dual shock 3, but since the controller is roughly around the same price as a game, i'll take a game instead and wait for a time when there isn't to much games being released, or i'll just hope i'll get it for my b-day!
Makes sense. Basic 40GB and a premium 160GB. Hopefully it will be fully backwards compatible.
The grammar on these recent articles sucks. But yay for new PS3 SKU with DS3. Here's to hoping it has BC, 'cause that'll make or break whether I get the console or not.
If the PS3 was launched with White.. we would all be drooling over the black model. The grass is always greener. White does seem like it should be in the kitchen though, versus the living room.
what this !!! i just bought my ps3 and now they release new model! dam,i should could wait before my purchase!160+ds3
I hope this is will become true.. I want one...
I really do not find a purpose for having such a big hard drive thats past 80... it would be better if Sony just releases the DS3 with 40gb PS3s in the near future.
there are sites where you can download HD quality episodes of some really great shows. With Home and GTA coming, there's going to be an incentive to have a lot of music on your drive. And with downloadable games becoming more of a mainstay there are many reasons to have a big drive. What I don't get is why Sony is simply re-releasing the same machine with a bigger hdd when you can upgrade your hdd yourself with practically any drive you want. I bought a 160gb off of newegg for 60 bucks. Rather than focus on bigger drives and confuse the average consumer and flood the market with SKUs, Sony should just leave it as is with the 40gb. That's it. Or maybe bring back the 60 with full backwards compatiablility and slash the 40 to 299 by Christmas.
How dumb can sony be if they do in-fact go this route? They've packed this thing so far up the a$$ with features that majority of thinking people don't give a damn about. This all in one crap is making products not only more expensive for things I don't need, but also the more accessories the more can go wrong with your system. I have a computer I don't need a console, and a cellphone, and god knows what else trying to be a half assed computer. More Hard drive space? I want to save my game progress on this thing so even 20gb is way more than overkill even with downloadable content. ATTENTION SONY: Keep the 40gb take out spiderman 3 throw in backwards compatibility, and a dualshock 3, and keep it at $400 bones. Then if you decide to go with a another sku don't do the whole bigger is better thing as we see this has not worked this new generation! What you need is a $300 model to take the new year by storm, and solidify a reason why sony is hands down the best new system. Make a 20gb system, wifi, blueray, dualshock 3, 2 usb, and keep it like that, and no need to add in more useless features or products that the average person doesn't want. Also make white versions available might also really catch peoples attention. That or just drop the current 40gb to $300, and keep it stable for a while.
i know as a fact that my 60gb is almost full without all of my music and movies on it. I dont like deleting stuff considering my internet is slow, so it takes long to download
I think the white PS3 is coming, that's it...
I think it will be over 120gb to match the elite. I hope a white one comes out with White DS3. I hope 2008 is when the games end up being amazing. I was disappointed in my ps3 until uncharted, UT3, COD4, and R&C came out. I feel spoiled. Wonder why nobody has posted in this section?. KInda odd
it just goes to show u that their are alot of people who come here just to talk smack.
It just goes to show you this section wasn't up until the majority of those post were already made. It put all the posts before the update in the other section because it was free for all or nothing back then.
make that triple post. Just shows how much love this section will get.
"But it's not sold it's shiped!" "And my friend bought a Mac!" "All I ever hear about is Playstation!" "Sony is cool, MS will never be that cool" ... ... "but..., but..., vgchartz said MS is da doomed!"
SIXAXIS will eventually be discontinued and all consoles will ship with a DS3. This isn't a surprise.
but seriously i love rants. I do hear though, that this new model will have the same price point as the 80gig.
Good to raise the GB in the package for the new DS. I know I'm selling one of my Sixaxis controllers and keeping one as a collectors item.
