IGN: "Nintendo" is the best game developer of all time

Over the past few days, IGN was listing the top 50 manufacturers of video games of all time, and the first and only, Nintendo EAD came out on top. Nintendo EAD (Entertainment Analysis and Development) is responsible for some of the most influential video franchises in the history of games, including Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Metroid, Pikmin and The Legend of Zelda.

Wicked, its opposite day. I should wear my clothes inside out also.

Pong on the Atari with a lot of games were polished to where they had minimal to little hiccups while playing so I guess those games are technical feat. Angry birds is polished without any problems also which is amazing. I can't believe games like god of war 3 which runs more than 200 times the coding of the most advanced Wii games suffers from minimal hiccups. That's sucks and must mean that the Atari is better than most systems out today since it has a lot of simple coded games that runs smooth

ronin4life4721d ago

I don't think many Atari games were all that good.
Nintendo rarely makes games lacking in quality, from a play and product point of view(bugs and the like) and have been doing so consistently for more than 25 years.

So no, I think opposite day is still aways off. Keep your clothes the way they are. ^_^;

Anyone remember Pokemon Battle Revolution?

Hisiru4721d ago

Well, it's a matter of taste/opinion. Really.

JoySticksFTW4720d ago

Loved Atari 2600!

Break-out, Ms. Pac-man, Vanguard, and River Raid were my favorites :)

I still miss joysticks and paddles

Paddles would be great for games like MAgic Orb and Arkanoid.

And I'd love an old school joystick for Pac-man Championship DX

As for Nintendo, their games are just consistently fun.

ShinMaster4720d ago (Edited 4720d ago )

I grew up playing Mario games and I feel like Nintendo hasn't done anything special in a while. Therefore "of all time" is a very subjective term.
Behind that Mario charm, the Galaxy games are pretty bland. Characters, story, mechanics, unnecessary motion controls, etc are just uninteresting and simple. Except for the visual design. Maybe people got carried away because it's one of the few good Wii core exclusives? Or maybe it's just a great game by only Wii standards.
I'm not sure.

But anyway, that's why I liked NewSMB better, because at least it's honest.
It stays more true to Mario gameplay and pacing, and doesn't try to make an adventure out of the same simple principle and it's fun.
I just wish there was more variation in its design. Because the 3DS and Wii U versions look very similar to the previous version, unlike Mario games in the past (SMB, SMB3 SMW).

IMO all the RPG Mario games(on consoles and handhelds) are better than all other recent Mario games because they have more depth!

Game journalists and reviewers are people too. And if they're gamers like everyone, then they can be fans and fanboys like everyone else, stealth or blatant.

Some people cite review scores to prove a game to be superior. But those same people may also cite review scores to show that a certain game is overrated.
Scores are full of contradictions, from the reviewers to the fanbase. So they're not definitive at all. They're extremely subjective, just like other people's opinions.

Nintendo creates games that out perform n quality not atched in games, like zelda or mario by any, other developer. Just for info mario galaxy highest rated game this gen.

BitbyDeath4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

Actually Metacritic gave that to GTAIV on PS3.
2nd is GTAIV on the 360 and third is Super Mario Galaxy

@BitbyDeath,

Grand Theft Auto IV

User: 7.9

Super Mario Galaxy

User: 8.9

Super Mario Galaxy 2

User: 9.3

What was that again about GTAIV?

Eyeco4720d ago

GTA4 is the exact reason why i dont look at metacritic, really the highest rated game i thought it was a monotonous ,overrated piece of A$$

ShinMaster4720d ago (Edited 4720d ago )

Since obviously being a big-name title gives you an advantage.

So I suggest people stop citing scores to make a point.
Games are overrated and underrated depending on your taste and perspective. There is no definitive score.

BitbyDeath4720d ago

@A01JMM,

Your looking at the wrong column, that is just the user scores. (Meaning non-official scores that you or i could get in and adjust)

GTAIV got 98 averaged from reviews
Super Mario Galaxy got 97

Sony as produce the PS1, 2 and 3 with the most prestigious games ever created, nintendo realize that sony is just too powerful with delivering great games so they decided to go the casual root and betray there fans with inferior products because they know sony is not capable of selling inferior products to human beings.

I am a happy user of the PS3 within society because they have all the games that mankind will ever need and come next generation every single gaming company will bow down and honor the PS4 as greatest console for all eternity and honor sony as the kings of developing games and mankind will live happy for all eternity within the earth.

Oy. Let the mudslinging begin.

I would agree with the sentiment if only because every Nintendo makes is always polished to a brittle shine. Take Wind Waker's graphics or the fluidity of Mario Galaxy's gameplay for example. There's more I could list but it would make the comment ho on forever.

Yeah, yeah, I know I'll be accused of being an obsessed fanboy. I guess if that's how people wish to debate then that's fine. But what can I say for you, I'm just a fan of the games they make; I'm no different from any fan of Sony's who will argue for their case or a fan of Microsoft's. I honestly would like to know how that's a bad thing.

-Mika-4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

Of course their game are going to be polished because their not drastically ADDING anything to their franchises. It basically the same elements and rarely little changes. Now i know most game developers do this but they have been doing THIS for neary 2 decades. At-least other game companies create a bunch of new ips in between.

Im not trolling or being a fanboy but im just really tired of seeing people praising nintendo games like their god when they're not really anything special.

@Morrigan-Aensland
Awesome post. Agree 100%

Sgt_Slaughter4721d ago

Not adding anything? Most Nintendo games, mainly Mario, are different.

From SMB 1, 2, and 3, to World to Land to 64 to Sunshine to Galaxy to New SMB Wii to whatever I forgot in-terms of main Mario Games, all of these are very different for each other, so nice try.

Hisiru4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

@-Mika-
So youre saying that NSMB is similar to Super Mario World and Mario Galaxy is similar to Mario 64 with only a few additions.

Really?

Devinchi334721d ago

I'd take a game that's completely polished over a radically new, but bug-ridden game any day. Add as many bells and whistles as you want; even the greatest games lose their appeal when you drop framerates, break questlines, or spy enemies phasing through floors and shooting at walls.

TheDivine4720d ago

No even non mario and zelda titles are head of the pack in their genre. Mk7 on 3ds has 32 tracks, online mp, and is near flawless outside of the one glitch. Xenoblade is on the wii and still outshined every jrpg this gen bar Lost Odyssey (i love turn based). Metroid Prime was a revelution compared to Super Metroid. Eternal Darkness, The Last Story, Star Fox 64/Adventures, Goldeneye, SSB, Kirby, Kid Icarus Uprising (brand new and like nothing on the market and its polished to high heaven with enough content to sink the titanic). Nintendo might be known for a couple games but they have more ip's than anyone and almost every single one is top notch. They try new stuff (wii sports, mii's, tablet controller, glasses free 3d exc) and they arent afraid to change it up and take beloved franchises like Mario and make it and rpg, take Zelda and make it cel shaded and cartoony and take all their characters and throw them together to fight it out. Nobody can compare to Nintendo. Even Sony with all their games had most of their well known PS games made by 3rd parties like FF7, RE, MGS where Nintendo is mostly in house. They are iconic.

"or the fluidity of Mario Galaxy's gameplay"

Fluidity?

I'm surely not the only one that had the control stick constantly change what direction it sent you in every time you stopped on the wrong spot.

Or ran into something because the camera was stalking you from behind the planet's horizon instead of giving you a proper view.

Or tried hitting the buttons that adjust the camera and wonder if absolutely anything happened.

Or become frustrated with the stars you "grab" to go towards when floating because despite becoming visible to you, were "out of reach" of your magic, with no real indications of the length of reach.

Or tried to adjust the camera on a flat plane and was denied for whatever arbitrary reason.

Sony/MS would never in a million years have the highest rated game(s) of the generation if all they changed were the characters in the SMG games. They would actually be called on these issues.

krazykombatant4720d ago (Edited 4720d ago )

The camera is lakitu, if it can't move a certain direction its due to the map design or something is obstructing the camera. Got that fanboy itch huh???

Surely, sony devs deserve their dues, but no uncharted will ever out-do mario or the the nintendo brands.

SilentNegotiator4720d ago (Edited 4720d ago )

"The camera is lakitu, if it can't move a certain direction its due to the map design or something is obstructing the camera. Got that fanboy itch huh???"

So a bad camera is justified if they make a character hold the camera?

Sounds legit.

Someone certainly has a "fanboy itch" obscuring their logic, and it isn't the person considering actual game design instead of apologizing with backwards logic that a character needs to hold the game perspective in place.

-Mika-4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

You really can't spell ignorant without IGN. Nintendo is not the best game developer of all time. Maybe if this was the 90s but in 2012. Heck no!. Pushing out the same ip with little gameplay changes in between does not make them the best.

Sony on the other hand should be #1. Im not even being a fanboy when i say that. They created so many new ip this gen ALONE that are really fun and memorable. Heavy rain,Uncharted,Folklore,Fat princess,Infamous,Pixel junk,Escape plan and im pretty sure im forgetting more but that shows how awesome sony is as a game developer. All of the agme they released have been really great and it sad that other people don't realize it. They should of honestly been #1.

Shok4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

I like Sony too, but creating new IPs doesn't automatically make you a great developer. Many of these new IPs you speak of aren't up to par with already-established IPs such as Metal Gear and God of War. Only Uncharted has actually stood up to the already-existing IPs that belong to Sony.

Infamous was good, Resistance was good, yes, but could we have done without those games? Definitely. Could we have done without Metal Gear and God of War? No lol.

And while this is a completely opinionated matter, when you add in the fact that Nintendo's games are the highest-rated AND highest selling of all time, it's hard to argue against this. Nobody has more accolades than Nintendo.

Moncole4721d ago

MGS isn't a Sony series so it's a bad example.

GuyManDude4721d ago

I would add LittleBigPlanet to Uncharted for great current-gen IPs. Infamous is close, but not quite "great". Very good, but not quite great.

I'd also be inclined to put the "Hawk" series up there (Warhawk & Starhawk). They're fantastic multiplayer games, and Stawhawk was lauded by critics as one of the best online shooters around. But it's so different that no one gives it a chance, and that's unfortunate. Very fun games though, and a very dedicated online community.

Almir9084721d ago

You do realize that Nintendo wii games have certain limitations that Ps3 doesn't have. Like using up most of it's hardwares power. So developing a game like Super mario galaxy takes smaller effort than say games like Uncharted because uncharted uses up more resources. I can gaurantee if Mario was on the Ps3 it would not be rated as high as it got. SMG2 came out in 2010 but what game won the most GOTY awards in 2010? Red dead redemption a game on superior hardware. So reviews and ratings mean nothing when those reviewers picked Red dead to be GOTY. The new legend of zelda skyward sword came out 2011 yet despite it's score being higher than Uncharted 3, Uncharted 3 still received more GOTY awards. Although the game sells more it does not make it a better game. As for MGS that IP doesn't belong to SONY. As for which system provided more highly rated games this generation than it would be SONY hands down. So to say that Nintendo is the best developer? No. I believe Valve or Naughty Dog deserves that type of recognition.

unfortunately, they counted every sony studio on their list separately, so sony couldn't be number 1. I was shocked to see japan studio in 40th place or so. They are one on my fav studios, every game they put out is so fresh and innovative.

EDIT1:
japan studio #47
santa monica studio #40
polyphony #24
naughty dog #16

they did separate retro studio, game freak, HAL and intelligent systems from nintendo, though

EDIT2:
It's an "all-time best studio" list, so it includes companies that do not exist anymore or that aren't that great anymore. I'm not sure how to take it, sure they pushed gaming back then, but have proven that they weren't able to keep up the quality, that would also make this list rather rigid for newer studios.

funny, I have the impression that square-enix wasn't there but enix and squaresoft were lol

live2play4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

naughty dog made uncharted not "SONY"
sucker punch interactive made infamous not "SONY"

in this case it just so happens that the company develops games

Instigator4721d ago

The difference is that the games Sony get the highest honor for is only published by them for the most part, but was developed by a lot of great 2nd party studios who also made the list. The part of Nintendo IGN titled the best developer is their Entertainment and Analysis Division (EAD) which develops the likes of Mario and Zelda in-house. Now it's all opinions, but I really don't think SCE Japan Studio quite measures up to Nintendo EAD.

Just watch the video IGN embedded on their Nintendo entry, and you'll get a good feel why Nintendo can be regarded the best after 30 years in the game: http://www.ign.com/top/vide... .

Sono4214721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

Okay let me just say this first, I own a PS3, I play it almost daily after work, I enjoy it very much along with the many games Sony has brought me, and i'm a PS+ member, I already plan on buying the next Playstation and I don't know a thing about it, but I am because I believe Sony knows what they're doing.

Okay now with that said let me just point out something wrong with your comment. Well first off simply coming up with new IPs doesn't qualify you for best game developer, considering the requirements are in the title "developer" plenty of people can come up with concepts for games but actually developing them, making sure they work perfect with no bugs or glitches, gameplay flows perfect at all times with a steady frame rate, everything is clipped where it is needed to be, and so on... all of this has to be taken into account when considering who is the "Best developer of all time". (by the way I think the statement should be changed anyway to "Best developer so far" or something along those lines) Nintendo does an excellent job of putting out quality games with little to no hiccups. I'm not saying Sony is bad at this they are great too, but I used to be in a glitching clan (Yes there are such things) we would play games simply to find glitches, we almost made it to beta testing but didn't, mainly because our leader F***ed up, but anyways we would find very little to no glitches in Nintendo games no matter how hard we tried and I give Nintendo props for that. Sorry for seeming like a rant but Nintendo deserves more credit than you guys are giving them.

-----EDIT------
For those who don't believe the PS3 thing go ahead and message me on PSN my name on there is the same as on here -Sono421

Knushwood Butt4720d ago

The irony is that Nintendo let a lot of third parties develop their games: Nintendo just publish them.

If you want to praise them as an extremely successful publisher, then fine.

FinalomegaS4720d ago

You are talking about a small percentage.

This is about EAD and what they have a accomplished, not like having Namco or capcom develop some of their franchises.

AdvanceWarsSgt4720d ago

Don't bother with commenters like Knushwood. They get absolutely infuriated when any form of praise is thrown in Nintendo's direction, so their comments will be strictly from a biased standpoint.

Knushwood Butt4719d ago

Either you're delusional or you simply don't know the reality.

Look at the Wii games published by Nintendo in 2012:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Rhythm Heaven Fever
PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond
Mario Party 9
Kiki Trick (Japan only)[17]
Xenoblade Chronicles
Project Zero II: Wii Edition
The Last Story
New Play Control! Pikmin 2

8 games, and only 3 of them developed by Nintendo...

I guess you might want to re-think that comment about, 'small percentage'.

Nintendo is by far the greatest videogame development studio in the history of our hobby.

For decades Nintendo has delivered unrivaled, flawless gaming experiences to the Elite Nintendo supporter. Generation by generation since the beginning of gaming time. Consisting of some of the highest rated, and greatest selling videogames of all time.

Each generation Nintendo has delivered a reliable, and powerful console canvas. Built on the foundation of the greatest console in house exclusive experiences ever witnessed by man. Which consist of new IPs, and some of the longest running successful franchise characters, and worlds available on the market today.

The Nintendo experience is a magical experience from beginning to end. An experience that can only be rivaled by the very best of Pixar, and Walt Disney film. The only place where you can participate in a true game console, and the number 1 handheld experience on the market today. All which consist of bleeding edge technology, innovative ideas, and all around support from Nintendo exclusive titles. The very same titles that saved this industry and set new standards in how we experience videogames today.

Videogames come and go.. But the Nintendo experience lasts a life time. From the original Nintendo Entertainment System, to the soon to be released Nintendo Wii U entertainment system. The tradition of supreme, top of the line Nintendo caliber gaming carries on. I am sure each and every one of you Nintendo Elites here today have multiple story's of magical experiences. Experiences that could have only been possible within the Nintendo product line. Looking very much forward to see what the house that Mario built brings to the consumer next.

Have a blessed day and happy gaming.

As a gamer for 25 years who's owned an NES, Genesis, PS1, PS2, and PS3 (and played everything else but Saturn), Nintendo is the GOAT hands down.

I love me my Sony games today, but no one has had as many hit games as Nintendo. That's not a knock against anyone else, but rather a testament to the longevity of Nintendo. They've been around longer than just about everyone, and they've managed to keep their projects' quality high over the years (although in my opinion their craftsmanship dropped off a bit with the Wii).

SCE as a whole comes close, but they're not quite there yet. We have to keep in mind that IPs like Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet & Clank, Devil May Cry, and Heavy Rain were not developed by studios owned by Sony. They're exclusive (although DMC isn't anymore), but those guys aren't under SCE's umbrella.

If Nintendo doesn't start making some fresh IPs soon, they could slip down. Only time will tell.

LX-General-Kaos4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

Nintendo does make new IPs, but they are often ignored by the internet comment section.

I do agree with pretty much everything else you have mentioned. Its good to see another honorable Nintendo Elite supporter. I hope that with the future release of the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system, or the Nintendo 3DS entertainment system (available now) that you find a new Nintendo IP that tickles your fancy.

GuyManDude4721d ago

@LX

Yeah I guess I should have specified: I want to see Nintendo make the next new Mario. The next Link. The next Samus. I don't mean one of each, but the next great Nintendo character that we'll remember for decades to come. I want that IP.

I also DEMAND a new and awesome Star Fox game. Star Fox 64 was my favorite N64 game. Whenever I went to a friend's house I got a good dose of Star Fox. And I don't think anyone has made a multiplayer mode that fun with such few options. There really isn't anything to it (two maps I think and a few evasive maneuvers), but damn was it fun 4 player split screen.

LX-General-Kaos4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

Starfox 64 was probably my most played game on that platform.

But my favorite all time game for the Nintendo 64 entertainment system is Mario 64. The most revolutionary platform title ever created. Only to be bested be Super Mario Galaxy in my opinion.

Psycho_PS3Truthh4721d ago

I might like the Wiiu controller but the Wii as been a failure to human kind this generation with prehistoric graphics and lack of third party support, infact the first party games were just completely reboots of mario and zelda that are announce as sequels HAHA. Nintendo is far from the best at developing games are competing againt the ultimate console the PS3.

Nintendo is possible the best at making new controllers but not at making civilize games.

LX-General-Kaos4721d ago (Edited 4721d ago )

@psycho

You may not appreciate the legendary contributions that the Nintendo Wii entertainment system blessed the community with. But at the end of the day nobodys negative opinion matters on the subject.

Nintendo won...

If it were not for the masterful innovations of the Nintendo product line. You would not be able to play Rival exclusives with motion controls. Nintendo forced change to the way your brand of choice does business. Which will also continue well into next generation.

Nintendo Switch 2 sales shatters records, most-sold console in 24-hour period

The Nintendo Switch 2 has set a new record by selling over 3 million units within 24 hours, tripling the PlayStation 4’s previous launch day sales.

Crazy. Switch 2 is going to do very well.

darthv7216d ago (Edited 16d ago )

No doubt, but.... the current price is out of the realm of the average parent / kid to buy like the SW1 was. So this launch achievement is from those of us with more disposable income.

The number of SW2 specific titles pales in comparison to the variety of SW1 games that get a performance boost right out of the box on this. And like the SX and PS5 before it, you can bet the majority are going to be using it as a means to better enjoy their existing titles that can benefit.

This may have been quick out of the gate... so was the WiiU. I quite enjoy it for what it is, but am keeping my expectations in check.

GenoPurpel16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

The Switch 2’s price point is great and fine and it’s still cheaper than the current gen of consoles aside from the Series S.

The only place I think they will fall short is their software sales, which also in turn may affect the hardware sales but not significantly. Parents will be fine paying for the system for their kids, but one look at an $80-$90 price tag for a single video game, that is where a lot of people will draw the line. Maybe not so much the people who are in the “willing to pay because I buy deluxe editions anyway” crowd, but for parents specifically, more sacrifices are gonna need to be made in their choices of gifts for their kids.

OtterX16d ago

As a parent of 3 with a very modest income, it was very affordable bc I already had an immense library of games, and the Mario Kart bundle came out to only about €50 more than a standard bundle. Both Zeldas were upgraded w Family Expansion Pass that I already had. Many games were upgraded for free. The only additional game I bought was Fast Fusion for 14.99 which was a great purchase!

Killer2020UK16d ago

People seem to forget that the Switch was $299 at launch which in today's money is roughly $400. That makes the Switch 2 a $50 increase when inflation is taken into account compared to the original.

Yes, people have less spending power on average compared to 2017 (Switch launch year) but this is not the MASSIVE price hike that people are making out Nintendo to be doing.

It could also be many people rushing to buy to avoid any possible tariff hikes in the future, but I think it’s still a good sign that many people still want physical consoles. Congrats to Nintendo! I’m not getting one at this time though (unless I get it for a Xmas present for one of my kids).

Congratulations Nintendo on finding the happy medium between their weak console and their invincible handheld plus learning from Sony and clearly defining the new console from the old unlike their Wii and Wii U just add a higher number simple yet effective 👍👍

victorMaje16d ago

Are people that keen on $90 games?
Is it true some remasters will also be $90?

DankSinatra16d ago

Tell me you don't research without telling me you don't research.

victorMaje16d ago

Nope. I didn’t research, I don’t own any Nintendo consoles and I had read on here something about $90 games on switch 2, so I guess it’s good now, people can calm down. Have a nice day :)

1nsomniac16d ago

I bought the Switch 2 I won’t be buying games at MK prices. I don’t ever pay over £45 for my games. Even my Nintendo switch exclusives I never paid more than £33 for.

franwex16d ago

I think the typo you put was meant to be $80.
Anyway, the answer to those questions seem to be yes.

victorMaje16d ago

Looks like I’ve been enlightened about the amount. Happy to see it’s not $90.

Sgt_Slaughter14d ago

Don't get your news from clickbait TikTokers/YouTubers, only go to the source (Nintendo) or reliable new outlets like IGN.

No game is $90 on the Switch 2, and they will never go there. Most games will be under $80, too.

cool
wasnt expecting it not to sell well

Profchaos16d ago

Its crazy that it's both the highest selling console on day 1 and people can walk into a store and buy it with no pre order

Ashunderfire8616d ago

Yup while I was waiting in line from Best Buy for Switch 2, like I did for Switch 1 back in 2017, every waiting 12am was going to get a Switch 2! I was in the no preorder line too!

My friend manage to get 4 Switch 2s at his GameStop store, that was lowkey not busy at all. Got them all for himself and his family. Super easy to get a Switch 2 over PS5.

Profchaos16d ago

The struggle to get a ps5 was real had mates wait over 2 years for stock i got lucky and got it day 1 but still

Ashunderfire8616d ago

I know and I also struggled getting a preorder for the PS5, when Walmart, Best Buy among other retailers open their preorders a day early before most of us realize it. I got my PS5 launch day thanks to YouTube Live Streamer Jake Randell. He helps people get preorders and launch consoles.

Neonridr15d ago

the PS5 also released during a global pandemic.

Ashunderfire8615d ago

It’s funny how I got disagrees for speaking the truth for what I experienced getting the Switch 2. Nintendo had more copies of Switch 2 than Sony for the PS5.

Don’t be butthurt about this very fact. People on here disagreeing with crazy reasons lol

hiawa2316d ago

Doesn't that mean Nintendo made sure they had plenty of stock available at retail.

Profchaos16d ago

Yeah it's nice to see they prepped for it

adamwparker16d ago

Yeah, I remember reading an article over two years ago with Nintendo stating that they were going to do all that they could to make sure their next console didn't have the PS5/XBox reseller swiping /no stock fiasco happen to them.

Looks like they made sure production met demand. Refreshing to see that the reseller thing didn't trend and I hope a lot of people who bought multiple units for the sole reason to resell then at $1000 are now stuck with them.

jznrpg16d ago

It also means there isn’t a chip shortage when PS5/Xbox came out during pandemic

gold_drake16d ago

to be where fair, we had a current gen come out during covid ha

repsahj16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

I remembered I tried 7 pre-order events during the PS5 launch. I gave up and ended up buying 1 from a scalper. But now, I already secured 1 pre-order Switch 2 unit in my country very easy and without problems.

Neonridr15d ago

kudos to Nintendo for ensuring a healthy amount of stock.

well, the switch 2 has two holidays in the us, thanksgiving and Christmas.

so id say its fairly possible. the rest of the world will also grab them

Abriael47d ago

Yeah doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility as long as they have enough supply.

Si-Fly47d ago

Do people buy each other games consoles for Thanksgiving? I’m in Europe and always assumed it was just Christmas where gifts were exchanged.

Skate-AK47d ago

I don't think it's so much Thanksgiving, but that Black Friday is the day after.

darthv7247d ago (Edited 47d ago )

That time is often referred to as the start of the Xmas shopping season. For the last few years, retailers would do 'black Friday' deals at various times throughout the year. While many still prefer to start their shopping in the mid to late November, others will just buy when they feel the time (and prices) are right for them.

gold_drake46d ago

i guess its more black friday, should have been more clear ha

GotGame81846d ago (Edited 46d ago )

Thanksgiving kicks off the Christmas Holiday.

Switch and Switch are a different kettle of fish. A sell out at launch by the diehards, strong sales, then the non diehards will be put off by the £75 ($99) games, including the stupid download cards which are topping £65 ($85). Not rocket science to work out how the Switch 2 is going to pan out. The PS5 has sold well, but games at £70, sales have been low. As game sales drop, prices will rise. Sony could knock out all their games for £40 and still make a killing selling more games. There's no denying that a gaming crash is looming.

Rancegamerx47d ago

I agree, I don't see the Switch 2 selling anywhere near the numbers that these predictions suggest or what the general buzz is implying. While the initial sales will likely be strong, driven by diehard fans, I anticipate a gradual decline. It may not drop off immediately, but over time, sales will inevitably taper.

PRIMORDUS47d ago

Not paying for something that's not worth more than the price it was advertised, which is $449 - $499.
