Games That Deserve a Remake (But Probably Won’t Get One)

TGC writes: Having a classic game remade is like a guilty pleasure – it simply feels wrong, but feels completely right at the same time. The worry with remakes is that it may tarnish the memories and gameplay of the original game – Diddy Kong Racing DS, for example, was a very poor remake of an already enjoyable game. But there are certain games that cry out for a do-over, with numerous reasons why. However, the chances of certain games that would probably benefit from a remake are next to nothing. So, without further ado, I give you my list of games that deserve to be remade, but never will.

im still wondering why capcom never fully remade re2 & re3 on the gamecube, it was practically a goldmine.d

Forgive me for asking, but didn't RE2 and 3 come out on gamecube? I've always wanted to play them but never got the chance. I see you said fully remade, so I'm guessing that they held something back? I saw RE2 for the gamecube for sale the other week at a used game store but didn't have the money to get it.

Yes, RE 2 + 3 were re-released for the gamecube, but they didn't receive a cosmetic makeover like REmake.

DrRobotnik4712d ago

They were just ports of the ps1 version with smoothed out textures. Res1 remake was rebuilt from the ground up. Story and all. Res 2 would have been a very large game to be remade. At the time I think they were focusing on Res4 completion.

StarFox4712d ago

they have re2 & 3 both for gamecube but they are just ports, they aren't remakes.

O.M.G Super metroid remade as a fps by retro studios would be EPIC!!!

SuicidalTendencies4712d ago

If they did remake RE2 I would hope they'd do it like the remake of RE1. I don't want them mixing in the RE4 style with it and screw up a great game. Leave the classics alone.

xstreetsweeperx4712d ago

I would have to disagree with that statement. I think that certain games should be remade but for the right reasons.

Them_Bones4712d ago

Nope everyone would just complain about everything different from the original.

dennett3164712d ago

@Them Bones, I disagree entirely. The Resident Evil remake received no such criticism. I'd love them to re-release that game in widescreen HD, as well as give similar treatment to 2 and 3. Plenty of other old school Resi fans would appreciate it as well considering the direction the series is heading.

the best remake ever that remakes should be measured to is halo 1 Combat Evolved anniversary, honorable mentions, resi 1 gamecube and MGS twin snakes on Gamecube

Resident Evil 2 GOG PC port finally gets a release date

Following the surprise release of the classic Resident Evil 1 earlier this year, GOG has announced when the next entry will be available on PC.

Puty298d ago (Edited 298d ago )

It is criminal that this playstation born classic is still nowhere near "classics" of PS Premium.
And give me trophies in these games, Sony x/

NerdTalk298d ago

Agreed. Although, if you do have a PC or a way to emulate games, Retro Achievements does have a fun list for RE2, I think its like 131 achievements.

Playstation Icons: Squall Leonhart

Gary Green said: Tempting as it is to dedicate our first installment of PlayStation Icons to a franchise-leader like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, or even Sackboy, instead I’m choosing a character that I, like so many others, connected with on a personal level. He’s a moody, world-weary teen, a proud loner with no time for the drama of others, and yet he’s also a hero just waiting for the motivation to unleash his full potential. He’s a warrior. He’s a leader. He’s the king of internal monologues. It’s time to meet Squall Leonhart.
