I have ever been is when I got metal gear solid 2 for my birthday back in the day, I put it on at 9am and after what felt like an hour of gaming I looked at the clock to find it was 8 pm in the evening :D

MGS2 was my first gaming experience playing it on 5.1 surround sound. It made a HUGE difference in the immersion. I still recall the sound in the beginning where the waves crashed against the ship.

Man there are a lot of games that have done that for me. Half-Life, Homeworld 1 and 2, Mass Effect, Brothers in Arms, GTA 4, Advent Rising, and currently Max Payne 3.

One game that really had me immersed was the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It had more of a morbid overtone than Ocarina of Time and the whole three-day span concept kept me glued to the screen for three actual days.
