Why We Wouldn't Miss Buying Used Games

Complex writes: I am going to receive a lot of hate for this, but I really have no problem with us losing used games. Yes, the option of having used games has been great to me and countless other of gamers who don't have the 60 bucks to spend on a brand new title. But considering the rumors that sprung from the news of the new Xbox and Playstation, are we really going to miss them?

For me it isn't about finances. I want something at launch I get it. I have never bought a title within the first year of it's release used. But what happens when I want something long after it's launch day?

There have been several titles that I purchased used that were 3, 4, or 5 years or older. What happens when new copies no longer exist? When they are out of print. Or the only new copies are on Ebay or the Amazon marketplace for $300 or more?

As long as they keep digital copies on the store it won't be an issue, otherwise this will be the ugly side of physical media.

Release dates sometimes get announced a year in advance. If you can't manage to put away $60 for a game you want then you may want to rethink your priorities.

i guess my new son isnt as important as putting away 60 bucks for a game. idiot.

used games will never die.

use books as an example. even though you can read any book conveniently on your phone or tablet for free in most cases, most still prefer to own and read physical copies.

I'd say a high % of gamers like to collect, nobodys going to be impressed with your digital collection.

I totally dig finding used games for cheap. Earlier this week I got Fallout 3 GOTY edition for $8 and in perfect condition.

Same here. I recently got a bunch of used PS3 games from EB Games at about $9-15 each. I doubt I would have been able to afford all of those games brand new, so it was nice having the option to buy them used.

You are probably the only person who wouldn't miss used games. Mostly everyone of us likes to save money by buying used games. Besides, who wants to blow 60+ dollars on an unfinished game, because as you know today games are left unfinished on purpose so companies can sell DLC or whatever. So much other stuff that can be said...

I prefer my games brand-new in mint condition. The only time I might consider buying a game used is if the game I'm interested in is scarcely available, namely existing games.
