The Sierra Club recently spoke about proposing a "couch potato" tax in New Mexico. The tax would go to help fund programs that would encourage families to go out hiking. Nobody would be against the idea of a program like that. The problem is that it's insane to put that burden on gamers in particular with no thought to putting a tax on other forms of entertainment.
Gaming Angels sent an email asking the ECA what they thought of the proposed tax and here is what they said:
As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.
And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.
