In my review for A New Day, the first episode of The Walking Dead: The Game, I mentioned my desire to play a game that reflected the emotional drama of the comic books and television series. Similarly, I approached the next installment, Starved for Help, looking for the narrative continuity for which the franchise is known. In the comics and show, every action is coupled with a resulting consequence, even though it may not be revealed until several issues or episodes later. Developer Telltale Games has promised that the storyline found in the game will be equally dynamic, varying depending upon the player’s decisions. Needless to say, I’ve been waiting eagerly to see how this narrative mechanic would play out, considering some of the tough calls I was forced to make in the first installment.
