Need For Speed Most Wanted Vs. Forza Horizon

GameInformer, Matthew Kato - "Two games are at the starting line, set to race off into the open frontier. We take a look at Criterion's Need for Speed Most Wanted and Playground Games' Forza Horizon and size up these two contenders.

Back in 2010, two racing games, Black Rock Studio's Split/Second and Bizarre Creations' Blur, went head-to-head on store shelves. Although the titles weren't completely similar, they defined the racing genre at the moment. This October, Forza Horizon (above) and Need for Speed Most Wanted will go up against each other and present their own visions of open-world racing.

Coming off of E3, where I got a chance to see and get some hands-on time with both games, I thought it would be useful to compare them in a few key categories. Of course, a lot of development time remains before October and I don't know every detail about either title, but this might give you a better look at both and help you determine if one is more up your alley."

for me its easily NFS since its my 2nd favorite racing series behind GT. i wish PGR was still around as this was my favorite racing series on xbox/360

dirthurts4678d ago

PGR was freaking awesome! I loved those games. Just arcadey enough to be really fun.

TBM4678d ago

yea i loved it when i was racing on the new york track i noticed my office building off the side on the track.

i wish they were still around, maybe they could have been signed by sony, and made a new arcade racer.

guitarded774678d ago

I'll be getting both, but seeing Forza go to a more arcade racing format with open world really has me interested.

Rob Hornecker4677d ago

I have heard through my vast list of online services that there may be a new PGR in the works. Although this maybe as a launch title for the xbox 720.

I would love to see another PGR as it was one of my favorite racing games!!

Criterion beats everything

Frankfurt4678d ago

Criterion is great... at making 30fps racers with massive ammounts of input lag. Hot Pursuit has the laggiest racing controls of the generation. It has almost as much lag as Killzone. Cars felt like tanks, turning long after your input.

Hot Pursuit had 86ms of lag. That's FACT.

Redempteur4678d ago (Edited 4678d ago )

that's like ..nothing ..

NFS : HP is 30 fps but has the input lag of a 60fps racing game ... that's just impressive.

You do not know what you're talking about.
Bear in mind that the average game this gen is 133 ms of input lag ...
If it was laggy , blame your TV, not the game.

At 86ms , not even 0.1 sec has passed before your action is already showed on screen .. For an human the average reaction time is 0.3 in most cases ... i fail to see how this is not perfect.

Out of the two, I'm going with need for speed, despite not having the choice, but even if I did, it's dat fun factor.

lastofgen4678d ago

Both of the franchises have "dat fun factor." It's a pretty subjective issue. For example, the people who enjoy arcade-esque games may consider nfs to be fun, while people who prefer more simulation-type games may consider the forza series to be fun.

TopDudeMan4678d ago (Edited 4678d ago )

Well, I've never been a fan of racing sims, I guess is what I was trying to say.

I mean, it's criterion making need for speed, I know what to expect.

Dms20124678d ago

Hmm, I see a trend in the comments so far, instant vote against a 360 exclusive.

But NFS is so near and dear to our hearts ever since the days of thee old Hot Pursuit, which was my first NFS game back in the 20th century.

Why choose a series that screwed its customers over by giving out a Special Edition that included all the DLC from the previous year and then some that isn't sold as DLC, making it exclusive to that Special Edition. IDK, I choose lethargy over being jipped.

dark-hollow4678d ago (Edited 4678d ago )

Are you crazy?

the last couple NFS games were utter shit compared to forza.
At least this one is made by criterion so it have a ton of potential.

Me-Time4678d ago (Edited 4678d ago )

What the flurge? When did I say the last NFS games were better than FM?

And Criterion, yes, exactly. There's another reason why I'd support Most Wanted 2 over Horizon.

"Horizon for sure. It is going to breath a much needed fresh breath of air to the genre, and it being related to Turn 10, you just know they are going to do it right. NFS is just getting old, tired and out of ideas."

lol Related to Turn 10. Before you were suggesting it was the magic of Turn 10 that kept on producing the Forza series (even though they've always outsourced like hell to pop out games like the series has). Now it looks sad that you have to keep bringing up Turn 10 any which way you can to make them look good by saying they're pushing boundaries and "top rated racer this gen" sort of bullcrap. It's the same ol' with you guys.

MrBeatdown4678d ago

Ooooh, ooooh, now point out how all the pro-NFS comments have a 2:1 disagree to agree ratio while the opposite holds true for the pro-Forza comments.

Must all be an "instant vote for a 360 exclusive".

Dms20124678d ago

It was going that way, had to steer it in the right direction with my comment.

Brixxer6004678d ago

I'll be getting Horizon on day one , it looks like the game TDU2 should have been.

Why Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) Still Holds Up To Modern Racing Games

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is still iconic mainly due to its corny storyline, its superb gameplay, and the unforgettable BMW M3 GTR.

Chryzz23319d ago

Its the best one in my opinion
