Resident Evil 6: The Demo

"Today the Resident Evil 6 demo became available for Xbox 360, and after what felt like an eternity of downloading I finally got to play it. To put it in the lightest terms, it was fantastic. A mission from all 3 storylines was available, and you could choose which character you wished to play. Added bonus, it’s co-op so I got to play it online with a good friend of mine. Now for a minor “Demo Review” of each storyline. I’m giving you fair warning, there are spoilers if you plan on playing the demo."- Rantgaming.com

I heard regenerating health and no scares... Lol, so it's the complete opposite of Resident Evil? Is that what they're going for with this one? No thanks Crapcom.

Whoever likes the series right now, didnt like it at the beginning. Thats the conclusion ive come to.

If someone finishes playing RE 5. Then they try to play RE 1 or 2 or any of the first few great ones, theyll stop in an hour.

"Why is it so hard???"

I played through all of RE5 so quickly and with no difficulty in the hardest setting. You stun, then kick, stun, then kick, and use the combos and nothing will ever hurt you.

The only part that was hard was the giant ogre boss, and thats only because the AI of your partner gets you killed during that fight.

Trasshhhh demo, Trasshhhhh game.

I guess I just have a different opinion. I think it was fun, and I am a fan of the originals..

Laxman2692d ago

Im with you buddy. I loved Resi Evil back on the PS1, and have been a fan of all of them since. Sure, they're very different games now, but just becuase something is different doesnt mean its no good.

Someone above me just said "Whoever likes the series right now, didnt like it at the beginning"... So, gamers arent allowed to like both survival horror, and horror action? Nice one Hitler!

Bimkoblerutso2692d ago

Yeah, that's cool. It was a pretty fun demo, I thought, but it certainly wasn't scary and it certainly didn't make me feel like I was ever on the brink of death. It's an action franchise now, through and through.

It's just sad to see the franchise almost COMPLETELY forsaking it's survival horror roots, especially considering that the genre would basically be extinct right now if not for a handful of stellar indie outings released over the last few years.

There are always going to be people who don't like a game when it changes, but there are people who are going to stick around and enjoy it. Just because some people don't like how a game has changed doesn't make it a dud. And FYI i'm pretty certain that regenerative health will be something that changes with game and difficulty settings. There weren't just "lights flashing", there were zombies, scary music, and pop out scenes that scared the crap out of me. What scares and entertains one person won't always work for the next

"There weren't just "lights flashing", there were zombies, scary music, and pop out scenes that scared the crap out of me"

That dosen't make it scary, it's how the game is crafted and developed.

RE had hardly non of those things except for the music or basicaly sound effects like Zombie noises chewing on their victims...those flashes of lightning and "scary music" is what they do in those cheap horror films. Jumpy, pop out scenes are another thing they do aswell...yeah they help but RE 1-3 didn't rely on that type of stuff, the only big jumpy moment I can remember was the dog jumping through window scene. The real scares were when you ran out of ammo, a hunter sprinting round the corner or a Licker dropping from the ceiling even though you could hear it or see it coming

"There are always going to be people who don't like a game when it changes, but there are people who are going to stick around and enjoy it"

So you agree with Capcom pushing old RE fans out the way, the people who got them where they are, just so they can pull in a differen't audience who are easier to please. While they manage to get more new fans interested in the games they also at the same time push the loyal fans out. Instead of creating a bigger fanbase they are just replacing a fanbase. If they stick to their roots it would of gotten the same number of sales...hell it's RE, the brand name sells the game. So even if this sells it's not because it's good, it's because it's RE...it's the reason why RE5 sold more then RE4, dosen't mean it's better.

"FYI i'm pretty certain that regenerative health will be something that changes with game and difficulty settings"

...and

The feature is still there...and the fact Capcom never mentioned it prooves they were trying not to draw attention to it....wonder why.

LOGICWINS2693d ago

"So even if this sells it's not because it's good, it's because it's RE...it's the reason why RE5 sold more then RE4, dosen't mean it's better."

Ummm...RE5 hasn't sold more than RE4. Your not factoring in digital download sales on PSN/XBLA.

I was talking about retail sales...not the HD makeover or the other versions they've released.
