Andrisang: We still don't have a precise start date for PS Classics support on PlayStation Vita. But we do have something a bit more specific -- a firmware version number.
Nice.... bring it, sony.. ps2 would be nice too, eventually.
PS2 games would be a revolution in this console! Imagine playing God Hand on this, omg...
It'd be nice to be able to catch up on the plethora of PS2 RPGs I missed out on.
Would be nice, but unfortunatly I don't think it's powerfull enough to emulate PS2 games.
I disagree, there are ps2 emulators you can get off the internet (illegally yes, im not condoning it) that will run on much less powerful hardware than the vita.
It did pretty good with Metal Gear Solid 2... and pretty soon FF10 is coming out.
@tidybrutes emulators are 100% legal they are just coded programs. downloading roms and iso's is illegal but playing your games on them isnt.
TidyBrutes: I doubt that. PCSX2 has a pretty hard time coping with CPU intensive games like Dark Cloud 2 or SOTC on an i7 2600k overclocked. Something much less powerful than a Vita has no chance with a 3rd party emulator.
@Tidybrutes My experiences with PS2 emulators are quite the opposite of what you're claiming. It takes a lot of power to run those things. @Seraphemz MGS 2 is not emulated on the Vita, it runs natively. All PS2 games could run on Vita if they were made made for it Natively, but that's not going to happen.
think of it lke this PS1 1.0 PSP 1.5 PS2 2.0 PSVITA 2.5 PS3 3.0 so yes psvita can manage
Final Fantasy 10 run perfectly on my PC at 1920x1080 resolution. I uploaded a video of it this morning infact. And it looks pretty nice too. http://www.youtube.com/watc... I won't be playing it though. I'm waiting for the Vita version =]
with the amount of ram the vita has, i think it may just be able to handle it... also pentium 4's can handle most ps2 games so i believe that vita maybe able to emulate the games at the same fps as ps2 @sidbradders emulation doesn't work like that...
What do you even have a ps vita? it seems that that is not the case... Every person that has hold in their hands a PS vita knows how powerful is the machine.
@mxkite yes I have a Vity, and I love it, but that doesn't mean I think it can do anything. Lets me ask you something, why do you think the early PS3's had additional hardware from the PS2 in them if they're powerfull enough to emulate the PS2 without those parts? And since the Vita is weaker than the PS3, it would be even harder to emulate PS2 games on it.
God Hand on the Vita would make me cum.
Regarding emulation talked about it here, it's not ilegal. You just have to own the game. And about hardware to emulate it, in the case of God Hand for example, emulation is slow. It requires a powerful processor with high clock speed. My laptop has 4gb ram core i5 and an ati 5650hd and still is not enough. Colosseum Road to Freedom works, but because its a less 3d demanding game (just an example).
The time is coming, it is getting closer.
Damn got well excited then! been waiting for this for ages!
Ages. . . Four months. . . Perspective is for chumps!
Hurrr durrr I'm glad you cleared that up for me you are a clever boy.
hurry up sony! i wanna play FF7 again.. i wana play 8 again too
So awesome. I can't wait, and I am SO glad I bought a 32GB card.
Give it to me, just give it to me!!
Get in ma Vita. XperiaRay
finally now just release the firmware and skip 1.7x completely
YES. Fewer firmware updates please.
Oh please c'mon the psp was fully PS1. They should bring the PS2 already. THey are so slow, by the time they bring maybe a few PS1 games someone will have all PS2 games running on Vita. They wonder why a lot of people choose to hack these handhelds. The technology is in there, they just won't unlock it and then someone does and does it better.
So is the Vita (when you count the hack). But take into consideration they maybe looking for an algorithm to implement touch or backtouch to accommodate the L2 & R2 that didn't exist on the PSP. With so many PSX games, this could be a huge challenge.
Yeah, hack your PSP to play old PS1 games, then get pissed off when people stop making PSP games.
What I meant was when the technology is there and they take sooo long to implement it, if at all, people will already find a way, which leads to more exposure to hacks. I'm sure the Vita is fully capable of PS2, so unleash it and help the system survive.
yep doing in on the psp was cool but its not a major breakthrough in the vita. I back that up about retro ps2 in vita.
I would die for Vagrant Story.. I have been dying to play that again !!
Damn I want Looney Toons racing!
<3 i love sony! They are making this possible:D Yes old friends im coming back! ( on the go)
My thoughts are captured by this image.
Sony!! Give us a release date plz!!
Somebody should come out with a Ps2 emulator for Ps Vita. If I could play Kingdom Hearts 2, Resident Evil 4, and Jak 3 on the go, I would literally cry.
Hey Sony, take me out on a DATE.
sony need hackers help again
So, what's the current firmware at? I'd check my vita, but that would require bending over and I have -awful- sunburn today. Anyway, PS1 support in July is a very obvious move. Sony has to, or desperately needs to, offer their customers something considering North America is getting all of -zero- new game releases this month, and no big release until the tail end of August. Our mouths are greatly parched and our thirst need be sated.
They wont release ps2 classics because those games are around 4gb each plus a new thing for ppl to whine about if they did
