Crysis 3: “Sometimes there is validity in going along a linear path”

X360: Crytek has experimented with sand-box design as well as linear corridor shooting, like Call Of Duty, but should there be a balance between the two for Crysis 3?

"The criticisms of Crysis 2’s AI were “a little unfair”

“There was some criticism [of Crysis 2’s AI], some of which I think was a little unfair, some of it which wasn’t. I think when you turn everything upside down and try to approach your game differently you need to change a lot of things which means some will get better and some will get worse. However, we now have plenty of experience, which gives us a better idea of how we need to approach things like AI in order to have it function really well in both linear scenarios and in the sandbox. We’ll attempt to make it as good as we possibly can.”

Rasmus Hojengaard, director of creative development

Well that's what you guys get for allowing your Executive Producer to criticize other shooters, claiming that Crysis 2 would beat Halo, and Call of Duty, and etc. When it release for the 360 and PC, it was a buggy mess with the A.i. and other issues. Now they finally fix it!!! Face the music and correct your mistakes with Crysis 3.

There is validity. When you're hand-held Call of Duty or Uncharted.

This is CRYSIS so there's no validity in linear BS. The handful of linear sequences in Crysis 1 were god-awful, and Crysis 2 was at most a 6/10 game. It seems like they learned nothing in Crysis 3, as their "open" worlds are actually places where you can choose between multiple LINEAR paths. I'm happy Crysis 3 didn't get much attention at E3. Crytek deserves to fail after ruining the franchise.

Absolutely insane. Man I'm hope they land on their feet EA needs to get the shit together badly....

This is why this industry has slow releases and none compelling games.

Why would anyone willingly work in the VG industry or specifically for one of these globocorp organizations that put you in constant fear of losing your livelihood based on terrible choices made by idiotic management, not the people with talent making the actual games?
