Wii.com has another installment of Iwata Asks. This time the entire article is focused on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Right now they only have up Volume 1, but it is chock-full of information. There are 4 pages to read through, so get ready for a long sit!
Mr. Iwata starts the feature off by offering an apology for the Brawl delay:
"Hello, Everyone. My name is Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co., Ltd. Beginning today, I would like to deliver an interview that explains the vision and the development process behind the creation of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But before we begin, I would like to offer an apology.
With the completion of the game falling behind schedule, we were unable to keep our promised release date, despite our greatest efforts in attempting to release this game on time. I would like to extend my most sincere apology to all of our customers that are anticipating the title's release, and also to our retailers.
I have asked Mr. Nagata from "Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun" (a webpage hosted by famed copywriter Shigesato Itoi), who is a fan of Smash Bros. himself, to take on the role as the editor for this Iwata Asks interview. The last time he helped us was with the Iwata Asks series before the Wii launch, but I feel like I have asked the perfect candidate to convey the appeal of Smash Bros.
I hope you enjoy this interview."

Fighting games and music have a long and storied history together. Here are five of the best fighting game stage themes throughout video game history.
Tekken Tag Tournament 1 Arcade OST - Nina Williams
Street Fighter 2 - Ken stage, Ryu Stage, Vega (Claw), and Guile
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Karin theme
Tekken 3 Arcade OST - Hidden Characters Theme
Super Street Fighter 2 - Fei Long CPS1 version (found on Hyper SF2 A.E.)
Tekken 2 Arcade OST - Kazuya and Devil theme
Marvel vs Capcom 1 - Strider Theme, Ryu, and Roll
Should be some tunes from the first Mortal Kombat in any list tbh.
I really like the use of Mozart’s Dies Irae in Wolfgang Krausers stage in Fatal Fury 2.
Developers should always strive to make their products as balanced and fair as possible. Sometimes, video games feature a incredibly overpowered characters that just break the game.
You may have head of The 7 Deadly Sins in Christianity, but what about The 7 Deadly Sins of Game Design? Jason Capp is here to break it down.
For me, it's collect-a-thons. They weren't fun in Donkey Kong or Banjo and Kazooie and they still aren't fun now. Why create these wonderfully oversized, detailed worlds if you are going to just supplement gameplay with ambiguous item fetch-quests.
There are exceptions, of course, But by and large, it just shows laziness on the part of the developer.
Good article, by the way!
how about not allowing cutscene skipping
that's flat out inexcusable in any game in the last 10 years
this comments are demanding a "The 4 Horsemen of The Apocalypse of Game Design Flaws" sequel
Wow, that's pretty upstanding for the guy to apologize for the delay of a game. We gamers get so pissed when something doesn't get released on time but most of the time we don't hear a word about it.
Much respect.
Now...if we could just get Harrison to comment on the erroneous information regarding Home.....
Its not completeeee?
i hope they mean debugging....because if they haven't closed all the new features then this game will never finish >_>!!!!
I hope they added a Download feature >_>.
But yeah, you don't see it often people apologize for a delay.
Also showing they spend allot of time on this game!
Edit: if brawl wasnt made iwata would have made a MElee version with Wifi....i dont think that would have been something bad XD but yeaai for brawl
