Edge Review: Burnout Paradise - 'an epic breakthrough in online play'

Developer Criterion promised a reinvention of the series and it's hard not to see Burnout Paradise as the birth of a new era. For a studio that operates at 100 miles per hour, it's been an uncommonly expensive, time-consuming effort.

But the result, a free-roaming mix of hub and racetrack called Paradise City, accounts for every hour and penny. That stop-start rotation of front-end and game, almost comically damaging to the second game, has been replaced by a rolling Burnout experience that starts when you pick up the pad and doesn't stop until, after dozens of crashes, record attempts and challenges, you put it down.

Dusty (Admin): On normal news stories there is seldom any need to edit the headline, as the headline in the source story should be good enough. On reviews and interviews it will often make sense to add some extra info. The headline "Killzone 2 Review" is not a very good headline for a news post on N4G, even though that is the original headline."Killzone 2 gets a Perfect 10 from IGN" is much better and a more user friendly headline. The problem arises when contributors try and spin the headline.

Which is after 5 minutes and you realise that having to drive back to restart an event or finding your own route through a city as opposed to just plain racing isn't fun whatsoever.

But fortunately you can always just pick up Burnout 3 for very little and have a real good time.

Didn't like that in the demo, that you had to drive all the way back to race the last race you did :-/ +No 2 player off-line split-screen mode(or 4player)????????????????????? I'll stick to BurnOut 3!!! ;-P

After playing the demo, I was worried a bit, too.
But I just played a final version for a couple of hours now, I can say it's super awesome.
Just play some races and roadrages, soon you will notice THIS IS BURNOUT.
Lacking of retry surely gives a negative impression at first.
But in final version, if you fail a event, there are lots of things you can do in where you are unlike the demo.
So you don't think you have to going back to the start point.
You do find another things to do in your place.

Here it is. The harshest magazine on planet likes Paradise and gives it 9/10.
Any more proof needed that this game is uber awesome?
