Wow, they completely ignored Mass Effect and to some degree, The Witcher. Personally I believe they were the best RPGs of 2007 followed by Persona 3, but hey these are all just opinions.

ErcsYou6355d ago

rpg gamer doesn't even have mass effect listed. I guess they dont consider it a RPG... Persona 3 was a good game but 70hours + was too long. I never even beat it. Im looking forward to playing Eternal Sonata once it releases for the PS3...

Officially "RPGamers" is a joke they ignored 2 of THE best RPGs of the year Mass Effect and The Witcher

cuz it is CRIMINAL to call yourself a "RPG site" and not include both of those games in bigger categories (if at ALL in the case of Mass Effect), unless apparently the site only counts as worthy RPGS...JRPGs? I mean the list is almost completely made up JRPGs, why do they even have a dragon on the pages logo? why not a anime looking dude with spiky hair now that would a better fit to the sites "preferences" in terms of "RPGs"

I am seriously disappointed...and angry >.<

@Charlie2688

Mass Effect and The Witcher are both Bioware games. Every Bioware game plays essentially the same, interact the same as well. The location and story may vary, but on a functional level, they're all the same. I played Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and played Witcher. They both had the same fundamental mechanics with no real difference. The graphics were different, of course, but the games weren't really different. Bioware needs more diversity in their games.

MK_Red6355d ago

Agreed with Charlie2688 on all fronts. The site should have been named JRPGamers or something.

SaiyanFury, WOW. At least try to do some research before posting. The Witcher is NOT a BioWare game and is made by some lesser known european developer. It's an RPG with elves and set in ancient and a really dark fantasy world. It's a PC RPG with more of an isometric view and combat like Diablo.
Mass Effect is BioWare's game with a super complex and deep dialogue system with branches like the legendary Fallout 1&2. It's combat system is like simplified GRAW one and is a fully classic RPG in vein of KOTOR but set in an all original but futuristic world.

RPGamers is indeed a joke now.

Mass effect is kind of action game. Nothing spectacular here.
Fire emblem & Final fantasy tactics are turn based strategy. Like UFO, Fantasy general, Steel Panthers etc. Certainly it is not ComputerRPG.
AFAIK, Eternal Story is completely linear. In this case Eternal Story can not be RPG, just because gamer cannot choose game direction.
Where is Oblivion?
Do these guys from RPGamers know meaning of the term "RPG"? I foubt.

Suki036355d ago

I think their interpretation of RPG is also in certain style of art.

Eretik6355d ago

The Witcher is Polish games.
Fallout was not so legendary in days we have been playing in Fallout. Fallout was too short(especially Fallout 1), has not so immersive gameplay(compared to Might and Magic 6 ) and has rather small world(compared to Buggerall of Bethesda and Might and Magic 6 ).
But in Fallout you could Really Role Play and Fallout setting was NOT fantasy - big plus for many people in those times. Of course, Fallout was not so "serious" as classic CRPG.
Nevertheless, Fallout was never sold well. Neither Fallout 1 not Fallout 2.
I see no point why fallout 3 will be great game.

As a dev, I can tell you that with 5, Epic made quite a leap. It perhaps may have done *too much* of a fidelity leap that most of its target hardware (Both PC and Consoles) struggles to hit 60FPS with all the new cutting edge features they added.

It may have had some issues with this generation to find a good home, but by PS6 the engine will have matured and found a good matching partner 🙏

Now that Sweet Baby is involved in this game. I’m really concerned it’s going to turn into a woke agenda poster child. I hope not but after what happened to the tv show, I won’t be holding my breath on this one.

Demetrius333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

Folks are so mf afraid to tell the sweet baby inc weirdos NO we don't want your involvement lol

jznrpg333d ago

Hard to say. Maybe they are welcoming them?
I know I wouldn’t hire anyone from the outside to give me advice on how to do my job but we don’t know that they feel scared and they could be positive toward them. People have different beliefs and ideals and that’s ok there is 7 billion people you are going to have ideals that run the gamut.
If it was me I’d tell them to F off because I wouldn’t want to pay people to advise what I’m doing regardless of who it is unless I sought them out myself and that could be the case here who knows.
