Modding is a great way to start the ball rolling with a project, one that allows you to explore ideas that it me not be possible to with full-games. That’s the view of Bohemia Interactive game designer Dean “Rocket” Hall, who just so happens to have created the incredibly popular Day Z mod for Arma II.
DayZ Frostline DLC gets review-bombed for its price and content. Dev responds, saying "No one is forcing players to buy it."
Yes, I saw that! The DayZ Frostline DLC has indeed faced a lot of backlash from players who feel that the $26.99 price tag is too high for what's included. The DLC adds a new snow-covered map called Sakhal, but many players feel it doesn't offer enough new content to justify the cost.
Bohemia Interactive's CEO, Marek Spanel, responded to the criticism by pointing out that the studio has received very little revenue per hour of gameplay from the game over the years. He even referenced the Beatles song "Please Please Me" in his response, highlighting the frustration with the situation.
It's definitely a heated debate.
DayZ has now managed to hit its new all-time-high player numbers with the release of the new Frostline expansion.
DayZ hotfix 1.25 is finally out, but instead of fixing the oft-complained-about duping glitch, the issue still hasn't been addressed.
Modding give's more variety to games.
I ain't a PC Gamer, but this side of it always interested me. It's nice to see that modding is still relevant and allowed by developers. Seen a lot less of it in games lately. The videos on the GTA 5 will be a good laugh!
I love modding because companies don't have time or permission sometimes to create what hardcore gamers want. It is also what separates PC from console gaming. New consoles will have more power but still won't have mods. U hear that Sony and Microsoft?
U have to find a way to allow modding on new consoles. Its a bad economy. How about create a system in which modders can submit mods to Microsoft and Sony. Once approved, they are allowed to be downloaded or purchased. Yes, purchased. It will help out gamers, modders and make it worthwhile to corporate. Also, who knows, maybe they get hired to do concept for future games or doc content. And gamers will b lesa likely to bitch about dlc if its made by fellow gamers. The possibilities are endless.
