It's Official: Mobile Gaming Is Not And Will Not Kill Console Gaming

PricewaterhouseCooper issued a new forecast on the electronic media and entertainment industry, and as usual the retail PC market is in a steep decline. However, the report also shows that mobile gaming is in no way impeding on the console market nor will it disturb the sales for years to come, opposite of what industry heads such as John Romero and UKIE's Andy Page have said.

I'm frankly tired of them articles from some "media industry expert" talking about how mobile gaming is going to kill consoles in a few months; or how this 7th generation is the absolute final one.

It doesn't matter how many pixels the next iPad will be able to push out, or how many gigabytes will be onscreen, CPU/GPU capabilities, it will never convince me that the touchscreen is better than a physical controller with hardware feedback.

Console gaming is already killing itself by ruining numerous franchises. It's up to new IPs next gen to save console gaming as tons of franchises like Tomb Raider, GTA, DMC, DOA, Tekken, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc. have been ruined this gen to the point where they are irrelevant & targeted towards casual gamers + Westernized in some cases (basically the same thing).

Mobile games are and will never match the depth of a console game. I use my phone to call send sms and GPS and i use my consoles to play real deep games. I think they are complementary.

They need to put more PSP titles on PSN so I can play them on my Vita. Some of the best titles are missing like freaking Resistance: Retribution, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, and Valkyria Chronicles II. IT PISSES ME OFF!!!

Mobile gaming definitely won't hurt consoles but it could hurt handheld gaming for Nintendo and Sony.

Wow, did it ever dawn on you that a portable handheld will be able to eventually either stream or just connect to a television. Really guys... really. Do you know of a feature called Air Play? Do you know about the PSPs ability to hook up to a tv? Put the pieces together. The future is a handheld. When you get home, you can just plop down and remote it up to the big screen.
