The Australian Film Commission (AFC) and ABC TV want to help fund the development of a new game communally designed by Australian gamers.

The first project of its kind in Australia, the Good Game initiative will let viewers have input on the game design document, while the game prototype will be created by a professional development team and playable online via the ABC website.

The AFC hope the project will then be picked up by a publisher and eventually receive a commercial release, creating another Australian success story to join other home-grown heroes such as Puzzle Quest, Heroes of the Pacific and Destroy All Humans.

Applications from developers interested in the scheme close on February 15. The successful company or team will be responsible for reviewing, selecting and implementing viewer ideas or suggestions in the construction of the game.
