Sooo... what's the point of this particular mod? Blood and gore? Heh...

Seriously, shit like this does a great job of perpetuating the "bloodthirsty gamer" myth that the media loves to trot out after every act of underaged violence. The immaturity inherent in something like this mod dovetails quite nicely with their claims that children could never be expected to understand such violence is not acceptable in the real world.

I personally know that only people immature enough to want to play something like this would be prone to trying to repeat such violence in the real world. I have the Doom, Doom II, and all the expansions for them both on my steam account and still play them roughly once a year. I've never stopped and thought "what this game needs is more torture and blood."

We don't need more shit like this adding fuel to the fire of the media's petty and ignorant crusade against games. And we need the validation such gives the kind of immature brats that would play this thing to begin with even less.

I play Saints Row because I'm able to beat the crap out of people, shoot people, and cause havok in a fake world and i'd never be able to do that in real life....

The only people replicating it are the dropouts too stupid to understand whats right and wrong.

Jormungandr4326d ago (Edited 4326d ago )

The fact that you want to do that and only stop from doing it in the real world cause of the consequences is exactly the kind of immaturity I'm referring to. It's also very disturbing that you can openly admit such and not realize the implications of what you are saying (at least it would be if I wasn't inured to it).

If you really were mature, if you really knew right from wrong, you wouldn't want to do such things at all... even in a virtual world with no consequences. What you "know" isn't right or wrong at all... but simply a self preservation from the punishment that would be heaped on you should you get caught. What you know is that you would be punished... not that it's wrong.

And no... I'm not claiming you are in the minority. Only that the behavior you have demonstrated isn't unique to gamers.

DarkBlood4326d ago (Edited 4326d ago )

well Jormungandr what other way shall people who might feel like that express how they feel?

"If you really were mature, if you really knew right from wrong, you wouldn't want to do such things at all... even in a virtual world"

by that logic we shouldnt be playing games at all considering the reality and fantasy world consist of what we wish to do in real life but cant

for people who have these urges or feel like this, games is one of the perfect mediums to keep those feelings and or urges at bay

even you must of felt that way at one point in your life unless u were lucky enough to be raised in a locked enviroment "expression" away from reality of it all

this is my best attempt at an intelligent post so excuse the typing thanks

Calm down sally. People like games with gore.

Soldierone4326d ago

So you never read books, watch movies, or have any form of entertainment medium to participate in some fantasy world?

It might not be killing people, but you play games to kill monsters, participate in magic, and do all sorts of things. I play Saints Row to enter a world of this nature because its what I want to do and i'd never do it in the real world. You might watch Harry Potter to explore a world of magic, but that isn't possible in the real world either.

The mature one is the one that understands this, and doesn't try to push their beliefs off onto everyone by ruining "gory" games.

This is awesome! Seriously, I wish they would program this into the Doom that is being released with the Doom 3 bundle this fall for the PS3 & 360.
