E3 2012: Tomb Raider Will Make You Care About Lara Croft | RipTen

It’s no secret that Square Enix‘s reboot of Tomb Raider appears to be quite inspired by the Uncharted series, and there were several instances during my E3 demo when I noticed striking similarities – Lara Croft scaling a crashed plane is reminiscent of Drake’s climb up a train in the beginning of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Even still, there is more at work here than a mere clone, and Tomb Raider looks to be delivering an enthralling and unique ride.

The story is too old to be commented.

Game looks good, but the only game characters I tend too care about are the ones I get to create... no fense Lara

Really? So you didn't get emotionally attached characters like Geralt, Shepard, John Marston etc.?

In my opinion, that is odd.

No it won't. If anything this reboot makes me not care about whoever this weak Lara clone is. It's not even a Tomb Raider game anymore. I guess you can just chalk this up to another franchise being killed off due to casuals and a bad developer/publisher.

I have mixed feelings about this game....

When I saw the very first trailer, I really liked it. Seemed like a mature Lara Croft game.

...But I agree with the general's action sequences (so far) are too similar to Uncharted's. Which is a shame for a game that nailed the (indie jones style) adventure games since the mid nineties.

It seems crystal dynamics don't really know what to do with the franchise.

I am intrigued though, so maybe opinions will change.
