Precisely one week ago, Ys Origin made its way onto Steam, marking the first time this particular Ys game had been released in English. This marks the first time this title has ever been available in the west. The question is, how does Ys Origin stack up? Was it worth the time I spent playing it, and would it be worth your money and time to check it out?
Ys Origin flashes back centuries to celebrate an RPG legend.
I've been playing through it for the first time on the Switch. It's pretty good. It's scratched my action RPG itch a bit and it's a unique game for the series. I would love to see a 3rd person remake one day.
COG writes: As Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for the PS4 has now arrived we thought it's the perfect time to rank the 8 Ys games of the series from the worst to the best.
Ys: Memories of Calceta was the best Vita game I have ever played. It was perfect on that system.
MonsterVine: "Ys Origin is a good entry into the series with a stronger focus on dungeon crawling than most of the other games it is related to. "
Man I've been waiting for a review on this game! I absolutely loved Ys Seven, such a fantastic RPG, though I'd never played any of the older Ys games. This one certainly sparked my interest.
