A lot of people don't care for the sort of sustained abuse Lara endures in the new Tomb Raider, but don't call it torture porn. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Tomb Raider I, II, III Remastered is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lara Croft is back in a classic remaster of the original PlayStation 1 hit title. Is the remaster any good though?
We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.
For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.
I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.
Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
Like the film or television industry, the world of gaming has seen its fair share of reboots over the years. While some of these video game reboots have had
I'm sure this is probably one of those things where we can't get the full picture until we play the game. I'm sure by the end Lara will have somewhat come into her old badass role, but with the story they're telling, they can't just show that right away.
Still not sure if it's necessarily "right," but I think that's what they're doing.
Tomb Raider isn't torture porn? Great, now I've got to drive over and cancel my pre-order.
I honestly never saw this game as "torture porn"... I laughed at those who tried to make that tie in.
Apparently women aren't allowed to grunt or yelp when they are stranded on an island, facing adversity and physical challenge as well as "to the death" combat....nope...just need to stay quiet.
What about Nathan Drake you say...well of course he can grunt and groan all he wants doing the same stuff...
1) A girl with a dragon tattoo is art but lara croft is torture porn?
2) Real strength comes from endurance and survival not being given a suit that makes you better than everyone else allowing you to dominate the battlefield (I'm looking at you just about nearly every fps).
3) Lara Croft is a 17 year old girl born to wealth - it's amazing she doesn't void her bowels with such strength she dies within fifteen minutes. The movie is showing her survive odds that would kill just about everyone who'll end up playing the game. Torture porn would be if the movie featured her needlessly being the victim whereas here she's clearly capable of fending for herself. It's just not easy for her - for once a game protagonist has to earn her strength instead of having literally everything given to them, or (comic book approach) have them accidentally stumble into greatness.
It's also not Tomb Raider.
