The PlayStation E3 2012 Press Conference just wrapped up and we have compiled The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly from the entire show. From The Last of Us demo, to the Wonderbook demo, we cover it all. - Trendy Gamers
If I were to grade it Sony. I'd give them a C+. They only announce like one game aimed at gamers, Beyond. Which looked fantastic(ELLEN PAGE!!) Also The Last of Us and God of War showings were excellent. But I honestly expected more. Only two characters announce for PSAS and Wonderbook=LAME.
The worst thing about their Showing was Wonder Book. Spent waaaaaaaay to long on that presentation. Bored me with it after all that excitement from the videos before. I was expecting more to, but I would rate it a B Really loved Ubisoft showing though, which surprised me considering last year's Nintendo is next so lets see if they can wow us more.
the chat sections in the few streams I was in were bored to tears with wonderbook. God of War was just that and Last of Us looks to be a solid new IP. a solid B- for Sony The game that shot up to #1 on my radar is Watch Dogs. Let's see how Ubisoft rides this positive momentum.
Personally, I think people were expecting WAYYYY too much. I've just finished a conversation with some other people that said they were disappointed at the lack of new stuff. Well i'm sorry, they NEEDED to show off their currently announced games, that's exactly what they did, and they did it beautifully. Beyond looks outstanding, the new Assassin's Creed ocean level was also very impressive. And the finale with God of War and The Last of Us were equally incredible. I am very satisfied with their show because I was not expecting things like Versus 13, Last Guardian (maybe a little tiny bit), a new console etc.. I went in expecting game play for announced games, and they did great with that. The ONLY thing I think they should have talked about more was Vita. I don't have one, but I definitely understand why people are upset about the lack of stuff for it.
PROS: Beyond: Two Souls http://youtu.be/mOWN7d0125o GOW: Ascension http://youtu.be/m9i9IFvYWnw The Last of Us http://youtu.be/G9YlkRgPnGA Two new characters for PS Battle Royale PlayStation Mobile for new Android devices. PS Plus stuff. _ CONS: Wonderbook. _ A solid "B".
Agree.. a B They had great momentum... but they killed all of it with wonderbook Thankfully GOWA and TLOU(a definite candidate for best of show)brought it back on track Shame they didn't do a vita price drop... its a great handheld that needs sales But I totally agree... without wonderbook, or if they handled it better Sony would have had a great conference Lets see what the big N has stored for tomorrow
I give them either a C+ or B-. MS got a F. Hopefully Nintendo delivers tomorrow.
seriously what are the other 20 sony studios working on??? ps4 is next year for sure
They got tons of stuff in the works for sure. Remember Guerrilla Games is working on the next Killzone plus a new IP, Infamous 3(surprised that wasn't there) The last Guardian, Agent. And they didnt even talk about LittleBigPlanet Kart Racing, Dust 514, or Sly Cooper.
@TruthSeeker "LittleBigPlanet Kart Racing, Dust 514, or Sly Cooper." They did during their short pre-E3 showing. Showed some new gameplay and trailers
I was kind of disappointed!
Id give them a B-....Wonderbook ran long but other than that all the announcements were pretty good and as a PS+ member i cant wait til tomorrow
It was ok I thought they would make a lot more announcements on new games but at least we know the PS4 and new xbox will be coming next year why else would they be holding back showing games that will be coming later than march 2013
I'd give them a B. Maybe they should've saved all the reveals they have been so generous with this year. It would have bolstered their show. Much like MS' show, I was really only looking forward to one title, and Last of US was brilliant. If Nintendo can't leap these conferences, the wiiu will seem even more disappointing.
they can't save the reveals cuz they'd all get leaked anyway. the entire conference was leaked except for the wonderbook
Id give them a C. I bought a PSV and I expected alot more.
i would have given it a c before the last of us, but i give it a b.
Wonderbook should only have been a one minute trailer rather than an overplayed demonstration. It would have been better if they showed a demo for the Last Guardian or something Kojima related.
last guardian is over, just like agent we'll never see it.
Dude, I was gone say! Agent is just vapourware tbh.
I am very excitied for The Last of Us, PS All-Stars, and Assassin's Creed 3 But they didn't show Ni no Kuni or Sly Cooper Thieves in Time :-(
I'm a bit disappointed that Sucker Punch didn't announce their game :(
Ni no Kuni is being saved for Gamescom.
Sly Cooper was shown during the pre-e3 showing they had
They showed Ni No Kuni for about 3 seconds in the montage.
Must have missed it haha :)
I'd give Sony a C, Microsoft a D, and Ubisoft a B. And Wonderbook.....please never again.
I can tell you what I didn't expect. I didn't expect Sony to show up showing some wondercrap thing for 30minutes. I was expecting exclusive game demo after game demo and perhaps a vita price cut and some actual live demos of new vita games. I can honestly say, this has been one of their worst showings since E3 2006. This was definitely not Sony-like imo. I think no one has won E3 yet. Both M$ and Sony have shot themselves in the foot. Now we'll just have to wait and see how Ninty does tomorrow.
Sony needs something like Wonderbook, something they can sell tons of to kids/casual. The Harry Potter link could be huge for it also. I just wish they would have ended with the short video, and just mentioned the Harry potter thing though. Then they could have used the extra 15 minutes to show more Vita stuff.
The Sports Champions 2 reveal at the end of the move stuff was a plus for me.
So just one thing aimed at a young audience and it’s a fail, you people are whiners. Showing off new ideas is what E3 is for. If the lady playing the demo listened to the instructions given by the book it would have worked fine but she kept jumping ahead. As for everything else the exclusives where a joy to behold, Last of Us and Beyond blew my mind.
And they were aiming at 10 million units for Vita this year???? What did they announce to expect that much sales?????? Very disappointing for the Vita if you ask me.
"And they were aiming at 10 million units for Vita this year???? What did they announce to expect that much sales?????? Very disappointing for the Vita if you ask me." 200 PSVita games in development for the next 12 month's for the PSVita and you are asking what does sony expect? to sell a whole lot of software, that's what...
OK thats cool that they will have 200 but they couldnt have announced or shown off more??
[email protected] "200 PSVita games in development for the next 12 month's for the PSVita and you are asking what does sony expect?" 200? really? and they didn't even show more but only three? Three games namely PS battle royale, AC3:L and Cod:BOD?
Hmm... Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, PS All Stars, more apps people have been complaining about... Nah, none of that will move units...
Okay it definitely wasn't as bad as the drama queens made it seem but it could have been better. I expected more PASBR character reveals, at least a PS3 price drop and a few more games. But I give Sony a break because they have many more games and can't show them all. I didn't expect them to show every single game they had for the VITA but they at least showed a new Assassins Creed and announced COD for the VITA plus added PS1 games and more apps. GOW:A, Last of Us and Beyond saved it from being a drag. I even forgive the Wonder book but they should have not allotted so much time for it. A C+ at best.I blame the media for the cloud gaming rumor.
just like i said in another article i knew it would be all about talking, sales and whatnot... it was hella boring! like the way microsoft does it just jump into the games even though they failed too. anyways liked the god of war and last of us gameplay and cant wait for beyond!!
I have to admit i was expecting way to much from this years press conference with all the potential reveals but in the end i understand that this is Sony & there are other conferences available for them to showcase new material. Beyond was utterly amazing (well done David Cage), AC3 & Liberation were very good, PSASBR was decent, Wonderbook was literally a mistake (though i get the reason for it), GOW & LOU made Sony's presser by far. Overall i give it a 8/10 or B It was a good show but not the ground-breaking event we were hoping for. The year is still long so lets see what GDC & TGS have to offer.
EA and Ubisoft had the best press conference!
Theres still 3 more days of E3 and Sony will be showing all of their games on the playstation blog. I'd say out of all the conferences, Sony came in a close second. Ubi's Watch Dogs was the biggest surprise so far. We will see what Nintendo has up their sleeve tmrw. What time does their show start?
Everything that was shown: Beyond(new IP) PASBR(2 new characters, vita cross-play, and get both versions for price of 1) 200 PSN games coming in next 12 months Vita controller DLC for LBP PS PLUS free games announcement. sony also gave ps plus to everyone in the audience (like 5k people) Vita getting more games, apps, ps one classics, call of duty black ops: declassified, AC 3: Liberation, new bundle with crystal white vita and AC game. AC3 new ship gameplay shown (awesome) and new PS3 bundle with exclusive dlc FC3 new 4 player co-op mode shown, map creator, also free exclusive DLC. Wonderbook (for kids) PlaystationSuite now Playstation Mobile and now for HTC GoW: Ascension single player gameplay Last of Us gameplay (amazing) Wonderbook showcase was too long, is cool tech and good for kids but not exciting and e3 worthy. Also felt like the GoW demo was also a little too long, it was cool but i just wanted to see other games. Also More games should of been shown or announced, I remember past conferences being longer still it was better than some of the other conferences today... I give it a B
